I think the beauty of the brutalist style is to show age and wear. It adds character to the materials and shows the way in which the environment interacts with the structure.

Look up the work of Arthur Erickson and Carlos Scarpa and see how their works are beautified by weathering.

Note: The sturdy stone isn't the most beautiful example of brutalist architecture. The most interesting parts of the building are the underside of the parkade looking up from ground level and the entrances into the lobby space.
