Apparently the building's shape is now melting cars with its reflection!!

I usually like the contrasts the newer towers pose against the historic core, but something about this design just seems so clumsy and ham-fisted. It looks like War of the Worlds meets an old fashioned television or microwave. It's certainly no Shard, that's for sure.

It's better looking than the Shard, and Jag's are over-rated anyways. At least it didn't melt an Aston Martin.

Obviously the shape of the building can't change, but I wonder if this will call for a comple change of the glass? Something less reflective?

Yes, I think they're in for an expensive re-cladding. Apparently temperature readings at street level have been 70C.

^ I don't get the few last posts. That's incredible. If that is not a joke, some engineers are gonna lose their jobs there.

This building is a very interesting design, very unique! I found out about this building because it made the news here in New York City, on a local news network, that it's melting cars. I'm guessing that cladding is very reflective? Never heard of this happening before with a building.

Solution: Install solar collection panels in those parking slots, provide the buildings behind with the energy (plus a settlement cheque). Instant London landmark.

There was a similar situation with the new District Courthouse in Rockville, MD.

This is an easy fix. Wherever the heat is intense along the street it should be a 10min loading zone. Offenders will have their car melted with a longer stay. No need to hire parking police.

for once the press aren't exaggerating - it was incredible, I've never felt heat like it - it was like standing right next to a bonfire in an incredible white light -
the thermometer just went past 50c and off the scale
there was a guy down there with a thermometer showing to the press
it was like a tourist attraction, so many people

please have a quick look at my website

You would think someone would realize that concave reflective windows on the sun facing side of a skyscraper might have something along this effect. Though (and this isn't my joke) they probably didn't think the sun would shine in England for the effect to be strong enough.

*ba dum sssss*

Death ray aside, I actually kinda of like the oddness of the shape. Really, London's skyline as a whole is developing quite uniquely and more modern than I think people thought possible.
