Red face TORONTO | The Britt | 138 M / 456 FT | 41 FLOORS

Address: 955 Bay Street
Developer: Lanterra Developments
Architect: Page+Steele / IBI Group Architects

Unfortunately, this one is going a head. It has hit 70% of sales and there is an application for demolition work to begin. I guess the only redeeming quality of this tower is the street front retail aspect. A part from that, Sutton Place will be sorely missed.

Sutton Place Hotel (back in the day):

This is a vast improvement over Sutton Place. That concrete slab was an ugly monstrosity.

The podium looks really nice. I'm surprised that a tower as large as the Sutton is being torn down though, when the replacement doesn't seem that much larger.

I don't think they're actually tearing down Sutton Place. Just adding 5 or so more floors and recladding the entire building.

If the cladding is coming down, and the crane up, shouldn't this be moved to "under construction"?

The new portion of the building has to begin construction on the top of the existing tower before it is considered under construction.

Doesn't make any difference anyway, lots of the current Toronto proposals seem to be in some form of site prep, from clearing, sales centres, excavations, shoring, and foundation building.
