The Pan Pacific will be partially closing for $ 60 million in repairs and upgrades. The outdoor plaza where the pool is will be torn up and rebuilt as the surfaces apparently are leaking.
It's all an effort to stay competitive in the market as Shangri-La and Ritz Carlton have raised the bar.
I also understand that the Fairmont Waterfront may be changing hands as it seems Fairmont is not going to want to operate two hotels right beside each other. Any ideas on this?
interesting...SOHO?

This was my point a while ago. It baffles me why Vancouver has so many Fairmont hotels. Toronto and Montreal have one each, yet Vancouver will soon have four and like you said, this one will be pretty much across the street from the Waterfront Centre Hotel. Maybe Fairmont figured, "hey, if Starbucks can build locations right across the street from each other in Vancouver, why can't we?"
This angle is one of my favovorite views of down town. Its going to look even better with the Ritz-Carlton. Although, with this building going up, will it block out a lot of the view?
- This reason I like this angle so much is because it really shows what down town Vancouver actually looks like inside the city. Well at least a nice part of it.

No other city even comes close to having 4 of them. Plus one each in Victoria and Whistler.
