Manitoba UFO reports triple over last month

Strange sky sights pick up: UFO reports near-triple average

By ROB NAY, SUN MEDIA | Sat. Oct. 13th 2007

The night skies over Manitoba were apparently busier than usual last month.

Nearly triple the average number of UFO sightings were reported, according to Chris Rutkowski, research coordinator for Ufology Research of Manitoba, a Winnipeg-based independent centre that investigates and researches Canadian UFO sightings.

"It's significantly above what we normally get," said Rutkowski, adding 11 sightings in Manitoba were submitted in September.

The monthly average is about three or four, he said.

Ufology Research is concerned that most of the sightings were not reported to investigators in Manitoba but were instead submitted to websites around the globe.

That makes it difficult for researchers here to speak to witnesses, collect further information and potentially rule out objects as planets or stars instead of UFOs.

"Every year, it's whittled down to about 3% to 5% that don't have an easy explanation," said Rutkowski.

Among the UFOs sightings reported last month, one came from a witness parked near Headingley about 2 a.m. on Sept. 10.

The man claims he heard a humming sound and then saw a light in the northern sky. He turned and saw a "floating disc" land in a field. Scared, he jumped in his car and drove away. In his rearview mirror, the witness said he saw the object rise from the ground and race across the sky before vanishing.

As for the rise in UFO sightings last month, Rutkowski said it's possible there's something out there or that "people are paying more attention to their surroundings."

Rutkowski said anyone who observes a UFO can e-mail information to Manitoba investigators at canadianuforeport@hotmail.com

It looks to me like the Spirited Energy campaign is finally paying off.

I also found this at the Historical Society web page. It's a letter from 1832 documenting what appears to be a UFO hovering around the Red River Settlement.

Quote:
UFO at Red River?
Manitoba Pageant, Winter 1969, Volume 14, Number 2

Red River,
December 19, 1832

From Thomas Simpson at Red River
To James Hargrave at York Factory

"On the' second instant at daybreak a most extraordinary meteor was seen by the bishop and other credible witnesses in various parts of the settlement. Passing up from Lake Winnipeg, its body appeared about the size of a nine-gallon keg but differently shaped, being elliptical, with a long bushy tail emitting fiery sparks."

"Its course was steady and regular, travelling very slightly above the earth at the rate of a horse on the gallop. In passing Mr. Sutherland's it descended so low as to brush the top of the willows and desperately frightened a woman who was standing at the woodpile. She threw herself down expecting the whole world would be in conflagration about her."

"Near the Forks it was observed to shape its course up the Assiniboine [River] and was subsequently seen at [Lake] Manitobah. It has given rise among the knowing ones to diverse fearful prognostics of cholera and other terrible Calamities."

Submitted by Gwain Hamilton, Victoria, from the Hargrave Correspondence, edited by G. P. de T. Glazebrook; The Champlain Society, 1938 Edition, page 96.

ahhahah at least it's attracting some tourists from far away

By the way, i can say I had 3 kinda-UFO sightings in my hometown: one was a burning ball falling in the sky (like a comet but very big), one was a golden disc flying kinda slowly, and one (the scariest) was with a trip with family and relatives to the top of a hill. While climbing, we all saw a huge disc object taking off vertically from the top...
In addition, a big sighting from hundreds of people happened in the mountains of Appennini, when i was an infant... a big disc flew down in a small village where my family was in vacation, stayed lifted in the air for several minutes... people saw shadows of humanoids at the windows of the spaceship.

Are there aliens somewhere in the universe? Most likely
Are they visiting earth? Highly doubt it

With that said, they probably were UFOs.. since a UFO can be any unidentified flying object, it doesn't need to be a litte green man. If you see a bird, but don't know it's a bird, it's technically a UFO

Well, if/when there are aliens out their with their spacecraft, they won't visit earth because we're too primitive. In other words, we don't have the technology (yet) in terms of their own means of space travel (hyperdrive/warp drive like technology from Star Wars/Star Trek respectively, etc.). Hence throwing away the chance of visiting us.

Even if they did come down to earth and land, they wouldn't land to say hi to us for obvious reasons, on both sides. We'd be freaked out, and they'd be contaminating the means of human development or something.

Then again, this sort of issue might be a separate topic to talk about...

they need the technology to visit us, not us. Did the incas have the technology to travel to Spain? It's proven that UFOs have been around for long time, just turn your head up and pay attention. It's amazing what you can learn from the sky
