Really? Do you have a source? Not that I'm saying your lying, but I do find it hard to believe that the decision to not build a 20+ story office/residential/hotel tower on the gravel lot beside 201 Portage was
entirely predicated on whether or not pedestrians could cross the street a hundred feet away. But I'm open to be shown otherwise.
But if you are right and opening P&M would have caused Harvard to build a structure even half the size of 201 Portage, then the City would have added $500,000 a year to it's assessment roll, meaning that the cost of tearing down the barriers would be paid for within 20 years or so by this one new structure alone.
