It's about time. Im looking forward to heading downtown to see it go up. Maybe a few updates in the future if someone hasn't already done so.

Let's hope Tridel doesn't crap out with craptastic spandrel...

This one could end up being a "Beast" but not in a good way.

It has taken a while, but not excessively so, I suppose.

Excavating a hole of that size, directly next to the columns for the Gardiner and the ramp on the opposite side of the hole, is an engineering feat in itself.

A ground zero style waterfall would be very cool here.

Would certainly beat the worst possible scenario Tridel condo. Lets pray it's not crap like Backstage.

Let's just pick a random condo? Backstage is by a different developer and architect.

Curious though. What purpose would a ground zero waterfall have here? It's in the middle of highway central. Also, aside from the significance of the waterfall at ground zero, it's a pretty useless feature taking up way too much real estate.

Standard shoring and excavation. Far more interesting things happening like digging five storeys under a heritage structure, maintaining a loading dock entrance over the pit or, erecting a staging area directly over the hole.

I just thought the sheer contrast to the raised expressway and dense development would look cool.

Plus I would bet good money than One York will probably look far better than anything Tridel could come up with. Height fetishism put aside.

One York is an office building . Harbour Plaza has a better design team. I'm not questioning that this building could turn out very bad but why choose Backstage which is actually turning out better than expected when you have 300 Front by the exact same team not to far away.

I thought Backstage would appeal to you. Curved, few balconies, brick and stone base.

Yes you're right, Backstage was a poor example on my part.

In fairness, Im probably judging Backstage too early in the game. I wasn't all that impressed by the spandrel I saw in person but I'll have to reserve judgment for when it's complete.

I find it amazing that they are squeezing buildings into these tight spaces around the Gardner. Looks so cool!
