Wasn't there a dude from Southern Land who was commenting here for a while? Maybe he could give us an update.

There were a few workers doing something on the site of the demolished building on the Sansom side today. Hard to call it dead when workers are still on site, right?

I used the contact portal on the SLC website to send them a message about this project, but I haven't gotten a response yet. It might've been just for show.

I contacted them AWHILE ago (like in June) and they said that it was still very much alive, so at least we know it works.

Not dead yet...Of course, they can always rehab the buildings and build a two-story Wendy's on the vacant lot.

And as we all know, developers are obligated to tell the truth.

That wasn't my point. He asked if it would actually legitimately work, and I told him that it does.

The funding stream for the work on the Sansom properties, both short term and long term, will be a lot different and a whole lot less from the couple hundred million that might be needed for the new construction.

It's in the constitution or something.

sometimes I think there are too many legal minds on this site! But then again many people think 2 lawyers is one too many.

Any intel? If this is still in play I could see it downsized and turned into a condo only project. We are at the beginning of an apartment glut, and it's going to take some time to absorb existing inventory and pending inventory already under construction.

I have a feeling that this and SLS/Broad+Pine are waiting to hear about the Amazon announcement before they move forward.

Apartment glut or no, this is the Square. How does this not happen?

Square or not, why would anyone build 100s of apartments when demand is weakening? I suppose they might accept a short-term struggle with vacancies and rental rates, recognizing that demand will improve as inventory is absorbed and new construction levels off... The condo market is still strong. A shrunken project could still happen without apartments. Hopefully the retail bases are still in play just the same if they do move forward but shrink the tower.

I would hope not...that's a lot of wasted time, time for the market to shift unfavorably and crater the projects, if we don't get Amazon. There will be no decision until next year.
