Criminal activity in Ottawa apparently isn't as "organized" as it is in other ciites (say, Montreal) so you don't have powerful people calling the shots, who for example might come down really hard on a minion thug who shoots off a gun in the daytime in a tourist district, because the crime kingpins know the cops won't let that fly like they might turn more of a blind eye to thug-on-thug crimes in bad areas.

The drug dealers have money and they're going to those places, and then conflicts are happening between them there.

The Ottawa gang members that have been murdered in Thunder Bay have all happened in reasonably well off areas too, like they just walk them out to a nice neighbourhood and kill them in front of an innocent person's house.

It seems to be getting worse. I've been here for 13 years now, and I've heard of scary stories in the market, but these past few months have been atypical.

At this point they have only be charged with one murder. the Professor from UBC that was found a short distance away from their vehicle.

They have not been named in the murder of the 2 tourist yet.

and now we have 2 Surrey men missing in the BC interior, have not been heard form in a week or so.
