Watt just came out today. From Levis to Munroe. All 10" concrete.

Wonder if any sort of newer bylaws would prohibit rebuilding the garage with parking lot facing Provencher. Should be a minimum 4 storeys imposes there similar to Main. Should sell to a developer and move on or open somewhere else.

for real? how can you be running a business w/o insurance? especially a business that deals in torches, chemicals, etc. all seems fishy to me.

in the end, that has been eyesore on a very nice street, hopefully a developer sees how much of a gem that corner lot is and gets going wit it.

Does anyone remember that 4-story commercial condo that was proposed there for years? Does anyone have a picture? That was from a time when there really was nothing going on in Winnipeg.

Yeah, I remember that. It was from around the same time that Place Joseph Royal was built. It was a pretty modest proposal, but it still couldn't get off the ground.

The young people today would have a hard time appreciating just how little was happening for that decade and a half stretch from the early 90s to the mid 00s. There was almost nothing between the construction of the TD Tower (201 Portage) and MTS Centre (Bell MTS Place).

Thanks, Biff. Looks better than I remembered. But by the looks of things the garage that burned is on a separate parcel... I see it at the far right end of the lower rendering.

Thanks, I guess I am mistaken about which lot it was on. I could live with that being built today. It's better than what's there now!

I'm really disappointed the City has shifted tenders to MERX. MERX is garbage. Such a piece of junk website. You also need an account and it tracks who downloads what.

I agree, but now contractors don't have to submit tenders in person. That is the one good thing.

They could've allowed submissions via the City website. Either way, time to move on I guess.

Also, MERX makes it easier for national or international contractors to bid on larger projects (and also to hear about them). Something that the city has been keen on lately. A 10 day window is not very long to put a bid together on a large job.

I miss the days when cars for sale posters were attached to my local IGA bulletin board with little pieces of paper that were to be torn off so i can phone them. Now they are majority listed on a place called Kijiji that is accessible from my work or home computer or on my phone wherever I am in the world. how inconvenience this is

I think I've figured this out for those that want to use Google Photos (and therefore have the photos upload automatically from phone and never have to do a manual upload to a random site).

In google photos if you click on the photo you want to share, you could then right click on the photo you see and choose open in new tab/copy image address, however that link is temporary, and that's the problem we see with people that share Google Photos links.

If you want a permanent link you have to click the share icon in the top right, then click create link. That link brings you to a Google Photos album, but from there you can click on the photo then then right click on the photo you see and choose open in new tab/copy image address. That link appears to be permanent - the photos I've started doing like this haven't yielded any complaints.

It had been for a long time earlier in fall but reopened. Maybe this time it'll go. Wondering if the sign controversy with chocolatiers popp delayed things

Yeah, its weird, my photo's show up on my desktop computers but not on my Ipad and phone. I will look into what was said in the post by YWG.

The chocolatiers have a sign on the side of their building. Which is at the property line. Which would have the sign overhanging on the neighbouring property. What do they expect??

Re: MERX and more national exposure. That is true I suppose. People do pay attention though. All the big names are watching. Whether those choose to bid or not is another thing.

I believe the links still stay active to the owner of the photos if they are logged into their google account. They are just temporary from a globally viewable perspective.
