Urban Planet was the consensus on this thread. The other one is apparently moving from the main mall.

If it is indeed Urban Planet and Ardene as was speculated, it will be pretty underwhelming. Even less reason for me to go there. It baffles me that all of the stores that have vacated since Roots, save for Payless, are still operating at Midtown, on top of stores we've never had like Guess, Jack and Jones, VS/Pink and the soon to open MEC. I know different owners, but why the drastic disparity in the job done by Cushman and Wakefield between Saskatoon and here???

I’m guessing Urban Planet will be the 45,000 sqft second floor retailer and Ardene’s will be the 15,000 sqft retailer on the main floor. Yes, completely underwhelming and a for sure disappointment. BUT, renovating these spaces does help the mall solidly infrastructure to make the space more ready come the day more substantial retailers want to move in.

I still want a Goodlife 24/hr gym. I still want a Zara. And I still want a Winners/Homesense.

I don't think that Urban Planet will be the tenant on the 2nd level. I did some research and the total square footage of the Sears store (both levels combined) is 123,000 sq ft. That means it is approximately 60,000 sq ft per floor. I peaked through a gap in the paper covering the former Sears entrance where the two pedways (Delta Regina and casino) meet. They have the lighting in place and the space looks huge. My guess is that it will probably be Winners or Marshalls combined with Homesense. I could be wrong, but 45,000 sq ft is huge. Also in my research, for comparison sake, I found that the average Sobey's store is 30,000 sq ft.

I was kind of thinking the same thing. Like that is Superstore size. Urban Planet would have a hard time filling that. Ardene filling 15,000 seems a lot too but more plausible considering the Cornwall location is much smaller than most of their other stores.

I think 15,000 sq ft is too big for Ardene. I would guess that the Shoppers Drug Mart in the mall would be around 15,000 sq ft (if not less). There are a lot of empty spaces in the mall now that would easily accommodate Ardene.

Why do you want another Winners/Homesense? We already have two in the city .

Because it would be perfect for the mall and downtown and surrounding area.

I've always heard Saskatoon is a University town and has a much younger demographic for the "trendy" big name retailers to want to be there instead of Regina.

Just what I've heard.

I think this is definitely the case.

Urban Planet is already advertising job posting for Cornwall. I'm wondering is their space the 15 000 or is that too small?

How big is the current Urban Planet on Albert Street?

Was at an Ardenes in Alberta over Christmas and it was easily 15,000 sq ft.

Their wikipedia entry says they're introducing stores that are 20,000 sq ft.

Too small, although similar to what they have on Albert. I believe they are taking the larger space. My assumption is the first couple of tenants in the former Sears are getting a great deal and can afford more space. Remember Sears. like Hudson's Bay, hardly paid any rent.

Ardene has a 17,000 sf store in Grande Prairie and UP has a 45,000 sf store in Timmins.

Which makes me think Urban Planet will be the 45,000 sqft space and Ardene’s will be the 15,000 sqft space.

Might have changed since the August 2019 document, but for reference...

Rumors of Lush looking at Harbour Landing or possibly Southland Mall as they are closing at the Cornwall Centre.

Is Cushman Wakefield just screwing the Cornwall Centre? This is starting to become literally diabolical how the property is running itself into the ground losing so many tenants. I laughed out loud with the articles about them solidifying tenants in the Sears space, which we all know are crappy tenants to begin with.

Absolutely ridiculous considering Lush did crazy business over Christmas. Whoever is running the show at Cushman and Wakefield needs to tell the owners that they are killing the mall or else fire whomever is representing the malls interests. What a joke. The upside is it would seriously help Southland but I think it's more likely they go to Harbour Landing or not reopen at all.

Ardene is aiming for a larger store format and new stores since 2018 are following that new format. They have one in Grande Prairie that is huge that opened in 2018.

Does look better than their previous store look and branding.
