Just imagine reviewing the shop drawings for all those steel. As much as it would be a headache to ensure every angle and dimensions are to tolerable ranges, it would also be exciting to see some artsy creative techniques that the fabricators came up with to solve some unique problems in regards to attachment and lateral loadings. This kind of steel framing is seen in well established cities in USA, Asia, Europe etc as cowtown is so accustomed to typical basic elementary designs.. Maybe the lazy engineers solution. Which I HATE!
This project as well as the library, Bow, Telus Sky should show the local firms that innovative liberal designs do have a place and is worth the risk and investment.
I'm sure areas like the tapering face and those glaciated light crevasses at the middle of the floors do create a challenge, but a fun challenge indeed..
