pic of Montreal from New England!

Scanned from a book called "Over New England". The photo looks like it was taken in the late 80's. Missisquoi Bay is in the foreground.

In the book, it says the Montreal skyline is visible 55 miles to the northwest.

Well, it may be, but i just traced a straight line from the lac to downtown in MapSource and it's ~ 70km. I wonder what's the absolute farthest you could see the skyline from...

The farthest, no... The skyline is visible from the top of Mont Orford (105 km) and if you're lucky enough, even from Killington VT (210 km)

J'adore ces vues lointaines!

L'autre jour, alors que j'était en pause au milieu du pont Laviolette, j'ai scruté l'horizon excessivement clair à la recherche du skyine de Montréal, mais tout ce que je voyais étaient les 4 cheminées de la centrale thermique de Sorel, l'autre côté du lc St-Pierre, assez loin quand même...
