Good taste in towers.....!

It's among my all time favorites, too.....Man, to live up among those turrets, grottos and terraces......in the late 1980's the penthouses in the Drake went for peanuts...so longs as you were willing to live in a nearly empty buidling while you renovated.... times have certainly changed......

Talking

When it comes to buildings that are already built or complete, It would be a hard choice between the Trump, Woolworth, Metlife, New York Life, Municipal, and Helmsey buildings in NYC. The Tribune Tower and Wrigley Bldg. in Chicago. City Hall in Philadelphia, Custom House Tower in Boston, Cathedral Of Learning in Pittsburgh, Terminal Tower in Cleveland, PNC Tower in Cincinnati, LeVeque Tower in Columbus, City Hall in L.A., Smith Tower in Seattle, the Tower Life Bldg. in San Antonio, Royal York Hotel in Toronto, & Regions Bank Bldg. in Mobile. It's too hard to decide. Maybe I would pick them all and make a totally new skyline. Of course I would throw the Fisher Bldg., Book Tower, & The Wayne County Bldg. in Detroit in the new skyline.

For Chicago, if I could choose anything, I would take the CCTV headquarters under construction in Beijing and place it on the south end of Grant Park.

Among buildings already built, I would take the Hearst Tower in NY, the Columbia Center in Seattle, and Highcliff in HK, in that order.

I would also love the Marin County Civic Center, but I think it would fit best around Geneva along the Fox River.

I have been searching the world for a decent looking tall building (900 ft minimum) that is under construction or proposed.......to borrow for Philadelphia......and the pickings are very slim. I'd rather have office instead of another residential which is what Miami and Chicago have to offer. There are very few buildings u/c that tall except in China or Dubai and they are all too pecular or garish looking. I have settled on the NYTimes Tower although I am not sure how tall it really is because of the mast but I think it will do.

For Chicago:

Yes, this one would look awesome in the south of Grant Park.
Also, I'd really like the Comcast Center from Philly. That'd look great somewhere on the river.

I completely agree with both of these ideas. The Hearst Tower is very Chicago to me. Actually, I guess an earlier version was proposed for here but didn't come to be.

Hearst Building

Does all kind of make you wonder about how these buildings fit into their surroundings. If you could take Nashville's Signiture Tower and put it in any city in the South, is it really a signiture? It wouldn't fit in Chicago...

I would like 1 Liberty Place in Philly to come to Pittsburgh. I also wouldn't mind having Philly city hall in Pittsburgh either.

I don't think there is a city in the world that would turn down Philly City Hall. It's an amazing building.
