Replacing a huge oil distribution company, vacate buildings acres of vacant land with homes--love it!

How long before Johnnie's Antiques is renovated into a bar/restaurant? (Nope, I don't know anything, just pontificating.)

I'm just ready for Lone Stare Foods to be gone. Still appalled by the ridiculous height limits and high parking requirements for the Saltillo TOD, er, all of our TODs for that matter. If we truly cared about affordability and fostering transit we'd allow for some sites to double that height triggering affordable housing bonus programs (income restricted homes voluntarily pied for by the developer), and get more jobs/homes next to our primary transit investments allowing for more ppl to live without their cars. Better for the taxbase, for walkability, for preserving culture and so much more.

Austin managing/planning its land development is often akin to bad parenting:
"We don't know why Bobby isn't as fast as the other kids." - says dad on race day
"Maybe it's the anvils you attach to his feet?" - says observant friend
"Oh no, those anvils help to protect 'neighborhood character' and actually make him faster." - dad says with a knowing smile
(Friend walks away shaking her head)

In general, people are more short sighted and emotional than they are forward thinking and reasonable. They don't think things through. There's only so much one can do about that.

Yes! That is a big problem in this city (and everywhere else.)

Looks like 1640 E 2nd St breaks ground on August 17th. It's a decent looking, four story, apartment building with large amounts of Big A Affordability (HACA).

I was wondering what was happening here when I passed by earlier today. Any renderings?

Site plan for the office building for Plaza Saltillo. This must be for the shorter one. I didn't actually realize there were going to be two.

6 floors - 74 feet to the main roof. It's really only a stacking plan, it doesn't detail the building.

The address is the 1600 block of 4th St., so it's not part of Endeavor's Plaza Saltillo project. The 125' Plaza Saltillo office building would be on the 800 block.

The facade of 901 E. 6th St. is going up now. It's a corten steel siding, that will (and already has) rust over time, into a nice orange.

I'll try and snap a picture next time I drive by, but it looks really great. I hope more buildings around Austin try and do unconventional things like this one has.

Renderings below

Yeah, It's going to be some really nice infill, especially for the location. If we can ever cut and cap 35 it'll be an amazing with what's on the other side of 35 from here.

Anyone know what's going on with 618 Tillery? It was almost done and ready to go for rent, now it's being converted to a 3 story building.

Also took a picture of 901 E. 6th St. Look at that rust!
