Te city is also considering either temporarily or permanently closing Gauvin between Acadie and Marche St to make it pedestrian only. This is a pretty good idea IMO. It's already a right turn only street anyway that is sparingly used, and closing it would open it up to more events etc in back of the city hall which are becoming bigger and more frequent.
1) - Roundabout at Champlain/Acadie - My God, what are they thinking!!!
2) - Pedestrianizing Gauvin between Acadie & Marche - Good idea actually. This street gets little through traffic, and closing it to vehicles would open up a large civic space between Plaza 1604, city hall and the Dieppe Market. They would just have to leave a lane of (mixed roadway) traffic available to access the parking garage for the Wingate Hotel, and perhaps for local deliveries.
3) - The plan also mentioned maximizing trails and bicycling paths along the downtown riverfront in Dieppe, perhaps putting in more monuments and public spaces along the river. This is also a good idea.

Confirmed - The first Atlantic Canadian franchise of the popular vegan restaurant chain Copper Branch will be located in Dieppe at 200 Champlain Street (presumably in the former Don Cherry's location).

Plans are to have the restaurant operational by mid-February. This will be the first location outside ON & QC

I thought there was already something there. Or was the work to split the unit in 2? In any case it will be good for vegans to have an option I'm not sure we have enough people who would go but wish them luck.

Lots of vegans around these days. The area is under served I'm sure.

And you don't need to be a vegan to enjoy a restaurant like Copper Branch.

I'm a full fledged carnivore myself, but I've been to Cafe Calactus several times and always enjoyed the food there.

Carnivores tend to be more open minded than vegans.

Wow... Some people prefer to not being open-minded to participating in the mistreatment of animals, waste of resources, harmful health impacts and environmental damage caused by animal agriculture.

But that's right: bacon tastes good, humans can't survive without meat, cows would eat us if they had the chance, traditions are sacred, animal agriculturers surely can't find other lines of work, and most of us regularly get stuck on deserted islands with no other option but meat!

LOL!
As a meatatarian, I too thoroughly enjoy any visit to Calactus. Outstanding fare and service. I don't hesitate to join any vegan friends at that place. Always a good experience.

Sam: "Curious... What could account for such a bizarre fluctuation in the populace? War? Famine? Rampant cannibalism?"
Max (getting excited): "Cannibalism! I vote cannibalism!"

Well, then... Sorry, my protein deficiency doesn't allow me a sense of humour.

All joking aside, it's simple logistics really. A vegan can't eat meat which significantly limits their options from most restaurants' menus, but a non-vegan can still eat anything on a vegan restaurant's menu so no reason not to try it unless they have some kind of vendetta against vegetables. A vegetta, if you will.

Just to clarify, a vegan diet is no animal products at all, not just meat but also dairy etc, etc.

It looks good but then looks out of place when you see that it's attached to the mall.

Not complaining but I'm wondering why they picked the old Sears over a stand alone location in the Ocean Limited Way area.

I would have preferred 1222 Main myself. I would like to know if there was a competition locally for the TD Banking Centre or not. Does anyone know???

From what I understand, the other major location was the former moncton high school but this location was selected due to costs and availability of space. The mall was desperate to have a tenant and not keep it vacant too long.

I know that they seriously considered 1222. I do not know why they didn't choose it.

The reason I brought up Ocean Limited Way area is I don't know if it was all involved. But know at least one person involved in the decision was interested, and as for 1222 Main it seems it was the lack of renovations the building was in need. They would have probably taken the top 2 floors otherwise.
