Which is actually even better.
Flannigan has been impressive throughout the process. Seems to be a reasonable human. He was also the only council member who ever responded to my emails, even though I'm not in his district.

Tovo is trying to push the vote back after 11:30.

It's still expected to pass but will be close.

The big question is if amendment to require final approval of deal to come back to council will pass.

That's awesome! Now is the final decision in Precourt's hands? Or did he already agree to the amendments? I'm a bit confused. I thought this vote was just to clear the way for negotiations with Precourt. Wouldn't we still have to clear that hurdle before we celebrate? And isn't there still a lawsuit in Ohio that has to be settled? I guess I'm still waiting for the official press release stating the move is 100% for sure happening.

It's the final vote required of city council. City Staff have the ability to use the terms as the basis for a contract and sign it. There isn't much left to negotiate.

A problem with the lawsuit was that there wasn't a place for the crew to go. That was a hangup with the notice provision. This helps the cause and it's also possible there are other things going on that will help bring the lawsuit to a close.

The lawsuit in Ohio wont go anywhere. There was a contractual agreement where the lease could only be terminated if the team opted to move to Austin and only Austin, which they are.

This vote clears PSV's path into Austin. The city council basically voted the MLS in today and voted to step out of Precourt's way.

The time to celebrate is now because Austin is getting MLS. Getting this vote was going to be the hardest part and its over now. The lawsuit in Ohio is just a stall tactic that will dissipate. The MLS wanted to be in ATX, they already trademarked the new name for the team 1.5 years ago. Precourt now has the MLS and city of Austin's blessing to relocate from Columbus.

The #savethecrew people were just dealt a death blow to their campaign today.

Oh that’s ok. You enjoy the convenience of driving to COTA and the sun soaked bleachers while we bus, lyft or drive to Burnet and watch a game under a fixed canopy.

CONGRATS AUSTIN!!!

There will always he haters out there. Millions love the Ravens; millions love the Titans; millions love the Texas Rangers, Dodgers, Giants, Spurs (ABA team moved from Dallas), Dallas Stars just to name a few. All of those teams were relocated.

It's how most teams move. It's part of the business. Just deal with it Columbus!

**Oh, can Austin Council members be recalled (i.e., removed from office if their constituents call for said person's removal)?

So, is the speculation that we would have a team in 2019 playing at UT's stadium?

I'm assuming FC Bold will not come to fruition at this point and COTA will move on to other things?

I think they'll play next year at one of three stadiums: Mike Meyers, DKR or Dell Diamond so they can have alcohol sales at the game. FC Fold will do just that, fold. They have as much a chance as that Hot Wheels development they're pushing at COTA.

Are we going with the green and black for colors?

I think, as part of the agreement, Austin residents will get some input into the colors, logo, team name, and branding. I've gotten attached to green and black over the course of this process. The only question is whether black makes sense in Austin given the MLS season is in the summer months and it's so hot here. I'd be okay with green and white or green and silver.

I like the name Austin Athletic but I'm completely open to other names too.

It seems like most just use their city name but some are unique.
I quite like The Houston Dynamo rolls off really nicely.
here's my top 3
-The Jackalopes (personal favorite)
-The Violet Warriors (if there is a color change)
-Emerald Austin
on the spot ideas

So good. Very happy that the vote passed and this part of the mess is finished. I look forward to seeing MLS in Austin! I’ve been a fan of FC Dallas by default for years, but I’m an Austin kid at heart...

Also, I think the Jackelope idea is hilarious. Not a fan of a color as a “mascot” or part of the name, personally. For soccer, I kinda just prefer the city name and FC or something classic. We’ll see what they decide after some community engagement. Green and black would be cool.

I think they're contractually obligated to use "Austin" in the name?

We could go with something like
-Austin Weird
-Sporting Austin
