Interjet Airlines Announces Service to Mexico City Beginning December 1st

October 31, 2011—San Antonio, TX— Interjet, a Mexican based carrier, recently announced it will begin round-trip service between San Antonio (SAT) and Mexico City (MEX), Mexico starting on December 1, 2011. This is Interjet’s first time serving a market in the United States, as it begins to grow its services in the United States.



Interjet is offering an introductory rate of $250, which can be used for travel from December 1 to December 14, 2011. The new non-stop service to and from SAT and MEX will operate twice daily except weekends. Tickets are currently on sale at www.interjet.com.mx.



“The City is delighted that Interjet has chosen San Antonio as its first non-stop destination to the United States,” said Mayor Julián Castro. “Interjet will provide an excellent new option for local business and leisure travelers to Mexico’s premier destinations at competitive pricing.”

San Antonio to Mexico City:

Flight No. 2950 SAT-MEX 07:05/08:55 MONDAY TO SATURDAY

Flight No. 2952 SAT-MEX 17:45/19:35 SUNDAY TO FRIDAY



Mexico City to San Antonio:

Flight No. 2951 MEX-SAT 09:55/11:50 MONDAY TO SATURDAY

Flight No. 2953 MEX-SAT 20:35/22:30 SUNDAY TO FRIDAY



Interjet allows each passenger a maximum baggage weight of 110 lbs at no charge. Excess baggage weight will be subject to a $5 US charge per 2.2 lbs.

It operates a fleet of 31 A320 aircrafts, serving 39 routes and 27 destinations including three international destinations, Guatemala, La Habana and San Antonio. According to official data, Interjet is second in passenger market share in Mexico, and according to recent data, is one of the most profitable and efficient airlines in Latin America and the world.



This announcement marks the entrance of a second international carrier to begin service to Mexico from San Antonio. VivaAerobus recently announced service between San Antonio and Monterrey, Mexico beginning November 8, 2011.

Very good news, didn't really see this one coming at all. I'll take all the new Air Service we can get.
