One could argue you are generalizing by implying that every asian appreciates good bubble tea.

^ Yes..this is originally meant for a survey and a discussion about the Asian impact on the culture of the Metro Vancouver Area. After all, we are all one race, the human race.

No one here is being generalized/called out/insulted. And this poll should stay.

Japanese people wouldn't know what bubble tea is, and probably wouldn't drink it unless you could make it green tea flavored.

I'm caucasian and don't find bubble tea to be anything special. I hate the pearls, as they upset my stomach for some reason.

asian culture does not belong to the asian race, it belongs to a group of people. I personally feel there is no such thing as a race, one skin color gene is not much to define the other things. as an asian myself, i was thought to be half singaporean and north american by somebody, which says nothing about my true background. i'm happy if i'm white, black or asian, since everyone has many different opinions on the same color. I hope we eliminate stereotypes and see people in their trueness.

Japanese culture isn't quite the same as the rest of the East Asian. For example, they wear black for the wedding while the majority of the Asian wear red.

While race-related threads often spiral into lock-worthy territory I think we've got a pretty good group of local forumers here that this thread shouldn't have any problems, at least on this particular topic which isn't exactly a very controversial one.

I'm a white guy that has only had bubble tea once even though I've known about it for a long time and pass bubble tea places all the time. I guess due to my limited experiences of it I don't ever get cravings for it or something so I don't ever just duck in for one. And while I imagine the vast majority of my friends have had bubble tea more frequently than me, none of them ever suggest getting it when we're hanging out. I'll have some again one day soon though I'm sure. Anywho, like many of the other white Vancouver forumers I'm all about sushi, thai food, pho, dim sum, etc and am for the most part fascinated by Asian cultures and am happy it makes up a significant part of the local Vancouver cultural identity. I've never considered myself an 'egg' but when traveling to other less Asian cities it always feel like there's something missing.

Although I'm not 100% Asian, I consider myself 100% Chinese since I was born and raise in Hong Kong.

Of course, I'm a Canadian now!

I am not asian but my favourite sign of impending good weather in Vancouver is the sudden increase in Chinese girls wearing mini skirts.

I don't think I'm very well known around here, but I'm Asian of the "banana" variety, and yes, I love my bubble tea.

Well-said there, vansky. This is very important and that we must eliminate any stereotypes...at least here on the SSP forum.

Dunno what he thinks, but methinks you're avoiding the question. Though based on various grammatical constructs, I think I can guess English is not the only language you speak.

Hey, that's my line.

Personally, I wouldn't say bubble tea is "Asian" which encompasses a huge area. Even "East Asia" would be stretching it, as Yume alluded to when he said most Japanese wouldn't know what it is.

It originated in little ol' country of Taiwan and then it migrated to other countries, like China (Hong Kong and the Mainland), The Phillipines, South Korea, Canada and the USA.

I love the stuff... though I think it's overpriced. Yume, I've only had one good スイカ(Watermelon) bubble-tea. That was at Pearl Drops on Hastings and Willingdon. Though last time I went there, their matcha green tea seemed not as good as it used to be.

And me, one could say I'm half Asian. My better half.

i'm a whitey

bubble tea not my thing.

love thai food (especially the curries). love sushi. find chinese food does not agree with me. Like a true vancouverite, West Coast Fusion is my favorite. mix it all up!

and i have no idea what is up with cutting your food with scissors at dim sum! someone needs to explain that to me. i think there was a bit of a language barrier last time i went. very interesting!
