Yeah it's pretty prominent. I could see it from the Port Mann bridge this afternoon.

Wow, it is actually up, I think most of us forgot about this project, good to see it actually happened! Hopefully we will be adding more wind turbines throughout the Vancouver area in the coming future.

My photos, taken today, of the turbine from a couple of vantage points on the north shore.

Dundarave Pier - pretty subtle from here, though not as subtle as this photo makes it look:

Lonsdale and 20th - very prominent from here:

The first time I saw this after school one day i knew it was a wind turbine but didn't believe my eyes until these photos came along.

It's very noticeable on a clear day, even from places as far back as Richmond. =O

I still am puzzled why its not painted FOREST GREEN on the bottom part and SKY BLUE on the top part.

would make it blend it much better................

Sometimes it is more safe for tall objects on top of a mountain to stand out rather than be disguised.

Does it get to have a light on top? Seems it would be a safe thing to do...

Before the turn on the turbine Vanoc should suspend massive LED Olympic Rings from it.

As much as I love wind turbines, this thing certainly is an eyesore in it's current location. I agree just making it green to blend in would make a world of difference. No need for it to stick out, planes don't fly anywhere near it and helicopters can only fly up there in clear weather.

Looks fine to me.

The blotch (for the ski slope) missing its trees is more noticeable in that last pic than the turbine.

It won't stick out as much when there's snow on the trees.

And the top of Grouse is probably shrouded in cloud a lot of the time anyways.

Why does everything need to blend? Leave it as it is. Vancouver needs to stop disguising things. Its a city behind a mask.

I think it looks fine on it's own. I just wouldn't want to see hundreds of wind turbines scattered allover the north shore mountains in the future.

What are you, some sort of closet Stonecutter? They painted that school a beautiful sky blue colour and a helicopter crashed into it.

A bright blue certainly would gaudy against our typically grey skies.

Anyone know when it goes operational? Apparently it will be travelling ~17RPM. That's about one revolution every 3.5 seconds. It'll look slow... but the blade tips will be speeding along at 250km/h. (77m rotor diameter).

the turbine is not operational yet, that's why it isn't spinning.
