GEZA: headquarters + production complex for pratic
italian practice GEZA has recently completed the 'headquarters + production complex' an office and industrial facility for practic, an awning and deck company within the town of fagagna in the northern province of udine, italy. positioned along a major freeway, the low-profile structure evokes the essence of the agricultural landscape. the campus consists of a main and clear volume dedicated to the work environment and neighbored with the manufacturing plant whose footprint has been placed at a 15 degree angle to respond to the nearby roadway. break rooms, communication areas and private spaces along with gardens accommodate the daily interactions of the employees.
Dream Downtown Hotel, New York, United States The National Maritme Union has been transformed into The Dream Downtown Hotel
The Dream Downtown Hotel presented a complex challenge for the design team. The project included the complete redesign and recladding of an existing structure, which originally served as an annex to the National Maritime Union headquarters designed by Albert Ledner. Not only did the building have to be repurposed into a hotel, but the owner struggled with the idea of distinguishing the building from the adjacent Maritime Hotel, also designed by Albert Ledner.
nestled between two hills in the ozarks of bentonville, arkansas, the 'crystal bridges museum', a complex for american art by boston-based safdie architects traverses a stream within the wild landscape. covering 120 acres, the grounds are crossed with an extensive trail network which leads through mature forests of dogwoods, oaks and white pines and eventually leading into the nearby downtown area. the environment fuses art with nature, allowing visitors to descend from the site's entrance and immerse themselves into the center's recessed setting, encountering a cluster of pavilions wrapped around a focal pond. accentuating the remote location, the crowns of surrounding trees peer above the arching roof edge, which draw upon the traditional architecture created with regional materials.

University of Indonesia Central Library / Denton Corker Marshall
Selected in an open design competition, the scheme by Denton Corker Marshall for a new library for a university of international standing deftly bridges the past and the present. Located in a highly visible and central site on the side of the campus lake, its circular form responds to the strong circular buildings and roadways that distinguish the campus pattern. Conceived as earth architecture, it cleverly integrates building and landscape to become an occupied tropical landform.
Express Rail Link West Kowloon Terminus / Aedas

Designed by Andrew Bromberg of Aedas, the Terminus is a 430.000 square meter structure, equipped with 15 high speed rail tracks that connect Hong Kong to Beijing. The project won the Best Futura Mega Project in MIPIM Awards 2012. Construction will be completed in 2015.It will be the largest bellow ground terminus station in the world. Situated in Hong Kong, the building acts more like an international airport, as it includes custom and immigration controls for departing and arriving passengers.

hamburg-based gmp architekten have produced the winning proposal for the 'changzhou culture center' in the newly developed center of changzhou, china. with a gross floor area of 365,000 square meters, the complex will host an art museum, science and technology museum and library with additional support facilities for the city's xinbei district. comprised of six modules, the arced forms mimic cantilevered bridges. an inviting environment of elaborate water features and landscaping surrounding the structure produce gathering points for visitors.

The newly completed French Embassy in China spreads over 20,000 sq m and places interior comfort over extravagant design yet manages to retain an integral elegance and charm synonymous with French design.
Arizona’s Phoenix Children’s Hospital, designed and renovated by HKS Architects, is an 11-story tower facility that is one of the largest pediatric campuses in the country. The building is part of a larger campus and a part of Phoenix’s community, which was a factor in determining the aesthetics of the new architecture. The design team was challenged to enhance the campus, improving upon its existing planning and flexibility, and staying true to the facility’s vision of providing children’s care in a comfortable atmosphere.
nantes-based practice tétrarc architectes has recently completed 'la fabrique', a performing arts complex transformed from an unutilized industrial and shipyard area in nantes, france. dedicated to contemporary and emerging music, the rehabilitated warehouses contain spaces to support musicians and artists in their methods of creation and discovery. the compound contains two auditoriums, 16 training and recording studios, offices, areas for digital experimentation and public gathering spaces. the program is divided amongst three separate entities which are interwoven with plazas for outdoor events and concerts.
