Richmond VA-Centennial Tower 20-30 stories 300+ Feet | PRO

This has bene proposed since 2005 in Richmond and is proposed by the goodstein development company of New York. Here is a rendering and the specifics of the project. The height is still being worked out on this project as there has been some elevation issues and some financing issues with this tower since no one really has heard how the financing has gone for this project.

Info from Goodstein Development website.

Project Location: 500 block of East Main Street, between 5th & 6th Streets, Richmond, VA

Project Overview: Changing Richmond’s skyline forever, Centennial Tower, a thirty (30) story, state-of-the-art skyscraper will include a parking garage, upscale retail space, office space, a one-hundred twenty two (122) room boutique-style hotel, ninety furnished short term stay corporate suites, and two-hundred fifty (250) ultra-luxury residential units in the building tower. Goodstein Development Corporation of Virginia anticipates Centennial Tower will help to encourage downtown revitalization efforts by providing an unparalleled first-class, mixed-use facility.

Centennial Tower will increase Quality of Life for many Richmonders – attracting and retaining people to downtown Richmond, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. With the increased activity at the Richmond Convention Center, the rapid expansion of the VCU medical campus, the VCU academic campus and the development of the Biotech facility (Philip Morris) all within close proximity to Centennial Tower, downtown Richmond is transforming into a great place to work, shop, live and play. Additional downtown activity includes Mead Westvaco’s new headquarters, the new Federal Courthouse, and the Arts and Performing Center.

I remember that block when I was walking along some of the streets there last summer. There were a surprising number of signs mentioning businesses that had vacated and a few renderings posted in the storefronts IIRC...

Didn't realize it had been proposed for that long. Since the info is somewhat sketchy, I hope it's not been abandoned. I do hope something is built there. Richmond's DT is nice and something new like this, mixed with the renovation projects around the district would definitely inject some life there.

Believe me in Richmond its hard to get any projects done when you have a government that is a bunch of whiney little kids. But this is our tallest tower proposed right now. I just saw a picture on Urban Planet.org someone posted of the demolition and it appears that they are taking down the buildings one by one.
