He doesn't make any sense, but he had to search for something to say. The fact that he chose those words makes you realize how at a loss for words he was to throw this development into doubt. Obviously they had to start getting tenants first before getting the financing needed to start. In that sense, it's not unlike a typical office development. But let the doubters and competitors continue to sleep on this development...

this week, the WPC’s developer announced that the building has signed 11 “licensees” including manufacturers Cardinal Health, Zimmer. Inc. and Encompass Group, LLC. Under the agreements, the licensees will lease space in the WPC product pavilion and gain rights to use offices and conference rooms in the building for additional fees.

Excavation on the World Product Centre site is scheduled for November, with construction finishing in 2013. WPC will license about one-third of the pavilion space and use the proceeds as collateral on a construction loan.
They could find their own plans coming up short...

Medical Mart's rival New York project announces tenants

7/3/2009

CLEVELAND -- Here's some eyebrow-raising news from backers of a New York City project in a first-to-open race with Cleveland's Medical Mart/Convention Center -- it's got some tenants.

World Product Centre announced that it has signed deals with 11 medical manufacturing companies to display products.

So far, MMPI, the firm designing and operating Cleveland's Medical Mart, has not announced tenants.

Cardinal Health, one of the companies affiliated with the World Product Centre, is headquartered in Dublin, Ohio.

Is the Cleveland MedMart the only one to have a public subsidy? It would be ironic if the privately financed NY WPC was successful and the one in Cleveland wasn't.

It's also ironic that in these times of supposedly pushing developments back, this tower is moving forward. By this time next year we could have two 1,000 footers rising in Midtown, and at least two 1,000 footers rising Downtown. Not bad in these "dark" times.

Besides 555 West 33rd street (WPC), Which 1,000 f tower could be the second tower rising in a year in Midtown?
I mean there are so many new ''Supertall'' proposals for Midtown.

Pending approval later this year, the Tower Verre could be under construction next year (although they still insists it could begin later this year).

Your information is incorrect.

I'm not NYGuy, but I believe that the Girasole would ONLY go u/c when the 7 extension was done.

So it will never go under construction without the 7, but even with the 7 it may not go under construction.

The Girasole will only go under construction when the developer decides to move forward, and there is financing available to do so. I haven't seen any indication of either, but as far as the Tower Verre is concerned, they have already stated a preference to move forward.

A great map given the location of the WPC ( #22 ) to other planned and completed developments in the Hudson Yards area...

I really like the design of this building, but midtown will look a little lopsided with this thing all the way on the western side. It's gonna need some accompanying towers to balance it out.

but soon there will be so much grown there and on the way out tithe West Side that it will look like a mere extension of Midtown.

Don't fear. Be excited

This tower's approval is all but sealed. Initial work should begin towards the end of the year.

Actually, it is sealed. This is one of the Hudson Yards towers (zoning was completed a few years ago). The only approval we need now is from the lenders who will finance this giant.

I'm glad a building is being built with a very great purpose and not just a residential building. I cannot wait until it is added to the skyline!

Even though there are more buildings being built beside this one on the west side it will still look lopsided because they are all within a couple blocks. Making it almost another neighborhood.
