North Carolina's top ten are really nice. I'm impressed.

Hey Michiganers... how about the Ford Rogue Plant...

A few have already posted Texas, but here's my opinion:

The Alamo (San Antonio)
San Jacinto Monument- this is actually taller than the Washington National Monument (La Porte/Houston metro)
Tower of the Americas (San Antonio)
Williams Tower (Houston)
"Ewing Ranch" from the TV show DALLAS
UT Tower (Austin)
Fountain Place (Dallas)

(the massive muddy rivers...im cheating)

In no particular order:

1. Lions Gate Bridge

2. CN Place

3. Harbour Centre

4. Empress Hotel

5. BC Legislature

6. Hotel Vancouver

7. Science World

8. BC Place

9-10 Generic glass condos!!!

BC's best "structures" aren't made by man of course.

that's about it as far as structures go. the remainders (eg transamerica, googie architecture, case study homes, etc) define california cities better than they define california itself.
I agree mostly... except if we include natural structures, in which case I'd add Half Dome at Yosemite.

PA is getting close to a final list...

I think shelby NC is closest for the list for PA. I might take one or 2 out for some new additions.

Do people beyond Philly really know much about City Hall (and I don't mean the readers of SSP)? Would anyone outside of this forum recognize 1 Liberty place as being in Philly? I'm not so sure. Here's my vote:

1. Independence Hall (without a doubt #1)
2. The Philadelphia Museum of Art (Rocky made it famous worldwide)
3. PPG Place in Pittsburgh
4. Falling Water
5. Revolutionary War cabins in Valley Forge, PA
6. The PA State Capitol in Harrisburg
7. Cathedral of Learning at the University of Pittsburgh
8. Three Mile Island south of Harrisburg
9. Welcome to Scranton Sign
10. Beaver Stadium

Truthfully, though, I don't think PA has more than a few truly iconic structures.

idk about ppg place, as far as skyscraper people go, we know of it, but we also know of 1lib and philly city hall better... so id take that off the list. it definatly shouldnt be so high up. one sructure that is famous and not on the list is the bridge near marysville, above harrisburg. it has more arches then any other arch bridge in the world. so therefore...

1. Independence Hall (without a doubt #1)
2. The Philadelphia Museum of Art (Rocky made it famous worldwide)
3. Marysville Bridge
4. Falling Water
5. Revolutionary War cabins in Valley Forge, PA
6. The PA State Capitol in Harrisburg
7. Cathedral of Learning at the University of Pittsburgh
8. Three Mile Island south of Harrisburg
9. Welcome to Scranton Sign
10. Beaver Stadium

i think this gets the list closer to being finished, maybe the bridge is too high on the list, but its something ive heard people outside of the state talk about.

I am not of the mindset that any one skyscraper from the Philly or Pittsburgh skylines proper is defining. The skylines themselves as a whole are defining.

Duquesne Incline - Pittsburgh
Fallingwater - Ohiopyle
City Hall - Philadelphia
Cathedral of Learning - Pittsburgh (definitely defines western pa)
Museum of Art - Philadelphia
Walt Whitman Bridge - Philadelphia
State Capitol - Harrisburg
Independence Hall - Philadelphia
PNC Park - Pittsburgh
Boathouse row - Philadelphia
