Can’t see how this will get much traction with such an infrastructure deficit in other aspects of the city in terms of roads, bridges, parks, sewer and water, etc.

I think the work was part of the overall Winnipeg Transit master plan. I haven't seen anything specific to RT.

https://winnipegtransit.com/en/major.../#tab-timeline

The clerks website talks about a rapid transit master plan specifically. So we'll see what they have.

It all seems like a big mess to me. Eastern corridor continues to be on hold. The RFP came out in 2015..

I think that is pretty typical of a project like this. Long delays are always part of the process with something this proportionally big for Winnipeg.

On another note, It seems like there are a fair amount of people who work in the industrial parks west of Fort Garry using the RT corridor.

Eastern corridor they haven't even talked about the Louise bridge or any other aspects of the study. They're stuck on the crappy transit concepts for 5 years.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad transit has done the master plan and has plans in revamping the entire system. It'll be another 5 years before they get it sorted out, the funding, etc. It'll be like the SW route in the end. 40, 50, 60 years in the making.

Not sure where you got that info, but what I've seen is that the deadline for presenting the final plan to council has been pushed back to March 31, 2021.

The agenda didn't have any mention of the extension.
http://clkapps.winnipeg.ca/DMIS/perm...200519(RM)PW-8..

They asked for it in the meeting. Like I was saying, the saga continues haha

Yeah, Gary there was no mention of extension in the agenda before the actual meeting. I'm no expert but it just sounds like they came to the meeting with nothing and said "give us another year" lol.

Transit just installed the new bus stop on the south side of Graham in front of TNS. New bus shelter design, not far off from current aesthetic but it has a flat roof sloped to one side instead of round. Also the signage is the more common and compact vertical one as opposed to the split L-shaped ones. Digital board not in yet, will be interesting to see if they put the new colour screens in like at the RT stations.

Sorry allergic to rain, no photos.

If by "just" you mean "a couple months ago"
I assume the narrower shelter is because the sidewalk isn't wide enough for a full-size one. I hadn't thought about the possibility of a colour screen -- that would be exciting!

Lol guess I haven't really had a need to go down Carlton in a while.

Is it really much or any narrower on the sidewalk there?

Was approved for WINNpass (low-income pass).

Got paid regular amount from EIA Disability today.

So are we supposed to pay for our low income Peggo with out regular EIA funds?

Any updates if ridership on the BRT has picked up? Anyone taken a ride for the full length?

The bus stops on Main are certainly getting busier every day.

I go for walks on the BRT AT routes and it looks like there are more people on the buses, even during low periods. The Park and rides even seem to be busier, the one near my place has increased from an average of 8-10 cars to 14-15 each day.

Weirdly it seems like WT gave up updating/fixing bus stop signage once COVID hit. Lots of them downtown are missing tons of tiles (not even blank ones covering the holes), worn out, some stops that have BLUE service don't even have BLUE tiles on both sides (or at all) or they just tacked them on the end instead of being first like they're supposed to be. There's a new stop at NB Main @ St. Mary that's still just a temporary sign. Even seen lots of the old/standard stop signs that are blank all over the place.

Almost every day i see BLUE branded busses being used for other routes, is it really that hard to the right ones on the right route? Is this just a Covid thing?

The whole idea about the BLUE route (and future ones) is that it should be as easy as possible for people to get on one and know exactly where they’re going.

It's just an advertisement for the BLUE line. It's on all the new articulated buses. It doesn't mean "this bus is operating the BLUE line". That's what the sign on the front of the bus is for.

Don't like it. When I was in Austin they coloured coded their rapid lines and it was awesome, so simple.
