Very nice, looks like a growing skyline that will soon rival that of Vilnius.

But where are all the people? I think i've seen every thread about Klaipeda so far, and in all them, it looks completely devoid of any street life?!?!

Btw, I believe i will finally have the chance to visit Lithuania this summer.
I've been following the developments there for the past few years so I can't wait to see it all with my own eyes.

It seems there are more construction projects in Klaipeda than it can actually handle...

In this panoramic picture where the tall highrise (34 floors, about 115m) a cluster or 7 towers is being built. Another five 22-24 storey buildings will be put just next to it and finally a 142m high 45 storey skyscraper will be buit... we're not even considering another bunch of towers which are being built or planned in the nearby areas... so try to imagine how all of this is going to look.... I think skylinewise Klaipeda will easily rival Vilnius and Tallinn...

these are the latest renderings:

So we should remember this name Klaipeda... it will show some good stuff in the next couple of years.

Nice to hear that
I'm sure you would find something interesting in Vilnius. I'll hop to Vilnius myself for a day or two in June. It's been almost one year since I last time visited my dear hometown (even though, it seems, this year I will again spend nearly all of my holidays in Asia instead of going home )

That's a a 43 storey tower there - not trivial for a city I'd never even heard of!

The population of Klaipeda is merely a 200,000 people and it's in no way famous except being Lithuania's only seaport. It's not exactly a big metropolis. Yet the amount of highrises underway is staggering. As about that 40+ stower, I think that company wants to build the tallest highrise in the Baltic countries beating anything which could possibly be built in Vilnius, Riga or Tallinn.

The new planned height for "Kursas"(the tallest tower in "Gandraliskes") is 160 meters. And the design will be different from the one in the pictures. The boss of "Plienas" (company that is building "Gandraliskes") want`s to make it a landmark of Klaipeda. Construction should start in 2009.

It depends on the air temperature, if it`s a bit colder, people tend to be inside than outside
