Final approval tonight at the planning commission. Any SacTown forumers planning on attending?

An interesting design, however Craig Nassi can jump off his tower after he completes it. He'd do the world a favor.

It's a great addition for Sacremento and will really be interesting to see in the skyline.

Does this have anything to do with his comments about Denver being over-built?? I know more than a couple of Denver forumers expressed disgust over Nassis comments regarding the fact that he thinks Denver is over building.

New City and a fresh start.

More has to do with Nassi running out of Denver trailing lawsuits over unethical business practices and shady dealing with his customers. I don't think he could ever do a project in Denver again with the bridges he burnt here building his last one.

He gets projects done, but when stuff goes sour, oh does it go sour.

Aura has been APROVED in a 9 - 0 vote.

Tonight was a good night... both urban and I sat thru 2 1/2 hours
of bla, bla, bla then at 9:15pm AURA was up on the agenda.
The cast was Daniel Libeskind and Craig Nissi in the front row
with the two of us. The Planning Commission started by joking
out loud about if there was anybody in the community that did
not want to see this project get approved. David Taylor group
first went up there first and opened with a few remarks then Daniel
went up to the podium and dazzled the full commission... they
were star struck.

urban... er, Jim followed by praising Craig Nissi for all his
quick response to schomes question on his black berry and
summed up by mentioning how the commissions vision to make
downtown a better place is now beginning to happen... Jim did
a great job summing up what many of us feel.

The official height is 441ft. with a total number of condos of 282

I'll say it again: that is one damn fine pic right there.

And to think that only 3 proposals are shown in that pic. There are at least 8 other towers I can think of that are proposed right now.

Yeah they only showed the 3 projects that are the closest to going up (both 621 and 301 CM having already been approved and going through their own site prep work).

701 L, Parthenon Epic, etc.. are all still going through their planning phases and seeking their entitlements.

It's going to look impressive in 3 or 4 years.

BTW Libeskind gave a wonderful presentation, though they asked him how he went about choosing the design for this tower and why it reflected Sacramento. Commissioner Wasserman went on to explain that while he didn't care for glass buildings (though aren't most towers a good deal of glass??) he explained to Libeskind that this was a beautiful design. All in all, there wasn't one single negative comment form the Commission.

(Further solidifying my belief that the architects on the design review board are a bunch of bitter underachievers.) Design Review should be disolved and it's functions taken over by the commission, because all it amount to is design by committee.

Does anyone know how many of Libeskind's designs have actually been built? I mean anywhere in the world?

Interesting. I found 15 of his projects that it appears have been built. The vast majority of his work has been museum stuff. I did not see a single residential tower or office tower that he has designed that has been built. Am I wrong?
