Hey Jack, when was the last time you were in SA? Not trying to insinuate your opinions mean less because you live in Boston, just curious.

Got add this. No opinions mean more or less than anyones, they're opinions! But I think you knew what I meant!

Xmas 2017. It was exciting to see Frost at about 8 stories at the time. I go back about twice a year on average. Always go downtown (and other areas) when I'm there.

Yeah, it definitely sucks that the actual lawn part of the park is going to be so small. But at least they're going to be surrounding it with bold, progressive, forward-thinking buildings.

oh.

wait.

I honestly don't see what few are seeing in this project. The grass portion is going to be the size of an avg. pool, it seems. Honestly, it might just be best to leave it open and just fix it up, similar to the park in front of the old Frost Tower.

It would be a better park that way. Maybe that's not what they're going for. There's less immediate monetary profit in a park. Parks are mostly for locals. This part of downtown is for tourists.

And that's (^^) the business that Zachary Hospitality is in.
(And there is supposed to be (eventually) some retail space!)

I tend to agree. I think it would be cool as an open field so people can play team sports (soccer, ultimate frisby, kickball, rugby, etc) like at Olmos Park.

That's pretty sweet. Those look to be over 300 feet.

Cool, but keep in mind what it says under the rendering:

"This rendering depicts the maximum amount of development density in Hemisfair's Tower Park. Officials say this scenario is unlikely, but an example of what could be."

One of the reasons that they gave was that it wasn't feasible... I think this could work. They aren't even trying. They could at least build one building of this size and then go from there. But that's my uneducated market analysis.

Hemisfair isn’t building anything, outside of the parks, the development will be left up to private entities. If a developer feels it is feasible to build a cluster of high rises, they will and vise versa.

Is the Overland project still in play? I was under the impression that those were a go, and Tower Park is something different.

That said, if the Overland scenario is feasible, why not this?

Zachry is the developer, and Overland is the architect.

I'm sure the project is still a go since Zachry was so involved in the legislation allowing hotel development at the site.

Yes, the Tower Park site is different.

Pretty sure one has nothing to do with the other, but if we get to keep a little more of our promised, "public park" along the lines of Boston Commons, or Central Park, then good riddance.

Maybe they'll put it in River North, where it belongs.
