Could be back now. Awaiting visual confirmation.

Work on Doha Convention Centre Tower finally resumes

Qatari Diar has announced that the construction of the Doha Convention Centre Tower (DCCT) has finally resumed.

The construction of the 551m tall skyscraper, located in the West Bay area, was hated following confusions that prevailed about the possible impact that the building would have on flight paths to and from Doha International Airport.

However, work has now resumed on the 100-storey tower, after the New Doha International Airport was completed on reclaimed land, approximately 3km to the east of the current airport.

The delay implies that the building will be completed by end of 2015, three years beyond the original date.

"Now that we've moved the airport, we can start work on the building again." An amusingly novel solution.

Good news if that's the case.

I agree. This is vanity height. And too much of it.
I guess it will make sense at night, with a nice lighting scheme.

The newest pic I have found is from 2012...

QNB tower definitely not going anywhere. The hole is flooded...

For some time the hole was actually filled with water. Now they have some pumps so the water level is no longer as high as previously. (note the "high tide" marks on the photo below...)
