Singapore's OTHER buildings

Welcome to the Shophouse.

Style: A crazy mixture of styles - Asian, European, Art Deco etc
When Built: 19th Century to before World War 2
Usage: Half Residence Half Commercial

These buildings used to swarm all over the old city of Singapore. Today, they form the backbone of conservation efforts. Some places like Chinatown, Little India, Arab Street & others still have large clusters intact.

Enjoy!

often forgotten about, but too often not visited when there.

the architecture is really cool

all the streets and sidewalks look so clean and even the water in the river looked very unpolluted

I love the classic style government buildings but with red tile roofs. You didn't show any of those.
