CRAZYTOWN.

Whatever's happening here is rocketing ahead.

I feel the same way about the new Hancock project on 3rd, too. TOO FAST. Let us enjoy the permitting process!

Ha. It took me a few seconds. But I believe you are likening the permitting process to those other unpleasant things.

Per a LinkedIn Post, Twin Crest Capital has closed on a site to build a hotel. The rendering is conceptual (no official architect chosen) and looks to be about 5 levels of parking podium, an amenity level, 12 additional stories, and then an top-floor amenity level.

Nice find. No hint on brand or location.

Nice catch AGV.

It looks perfectly lovely, but I’d be pretty disappointed if this landed on one of our unencumbered lots in the CBD. An 18 story building is subpar use of DT space, at this point. If it’s a prime parcel it should easily be 3 times that height.

EDIT around this article from last Sept that quotes Manohar, Twin Crest’s founder, on his development strategy. Among other things, Twin Crest developed the new Aloft on south I 35.

This design would fit well around the Alexan Capitol area

It looks like a West Campus design to me. If it had balconies and didn't have the "hotel" sign on it, I might think it was a dorm tower.

Interesting. The other Atari hotels will be in Austin, Texas, Chicago, Denver, Las Vegas, San Francisco, San Jose, California, and Seattle, though specific locations haven't been announced yet.

It sounds like Austin's Atari Hotel may be done deal. Their website says the Phoenix hotel groundbreaking will be in the spring immediately followed by Austin...

The Statesman picked up on this. The article opened in clear text for me and didn't require ESC key mashing. IMO it's OK, but somewhat gimmicky and more suitable for Vegas.

They’ve selected tech specific cities. Young budget minded techies will stay at this while in town on business.

So mentioned in previous post about trouble surrounding their upcoming console. A lot of controversy.

Bottom line is, I'm not putting too much in expectation when it comes to this until these hotels are built. I guess considering it's not Atari themselves doing it other than brand, maybe it will end up being kinda cool.

I just hope the design is different than their other hotels. It reminds me of Biff's Pleasure Palace from Back to the Future.

I am totally with you! It feels like cheap Vegas. If they want Kitcsh.... Like Dolly says... "it take a lot of money to look this cheap"
Yeah... a 70s glam design would be right on the money now.
But this just looks like a sequin appliqué on a cheap jeans jacket.

(no , I'm not drinking this early )

One of my trade papers compared it to Hard Rock Hotel, except for Millenials. I'm not sure that totally scans, but it's maybe in the same ballpark. Or maybe it's closer to this: https://www.tacobell.com/the-bell-hotel/index.html
