A vertical oriented wind turbine must be fixed on a rotable mount. Otherwise it cannot use well the wind. And by such a mount, its blades would destroy a zip line running from its pinnacle to the ground.

Interestingly the first transmission aerial system of Eiffel Tower was similiar to the proposed zip line

This is one of the best projects I have ever seen. This would make The Eiffel Tower even more beautiful.

Glad this did not actually happen with the Eiffel Tower, but I do hope that an Eiffel Tower replica with this design is built in another city like Djibouti City since Djibouti is hoping to become the next Dubai and Djibouti was once a French colony. The Eiffel Tower design with a hooverdisc would be an iconic landmark for Djibouti City, which currently has no recognizable landmarks.

Lol, was thinking the same thing when I saw the pics! I'm like all we need is to name the Princess and we're all set!

Even from an architectural concept point of view, this is awful. It doesn't look like you can occupy the edge of the extensions meaning this thing would fuck over your views down from observation deck. Fail all around.

My opinion: PLEASE, DON'T!!!!
I'm dying because I want to go to Paris, and it's just because the Eiffel Tower... and that thing... well...
Even if the Architects say that is temporary, we have to remember that the Eiffel Tower itself was a temporary structure, and after one century we still have it...

Here, a few images:

Even if it was a temporary extension, I think the Eiffel Tower should always be as it was built originally. This is a symbol of France which is known worldwide, and no one should change it. Imagine if it was decided to modify the Statue of Liberty... I'm pretty sure a lot of people wouldn't agree!

This must be a joke. Are they going to put a mustache on the Mona Lisa?

You're not serious, are you?

Foreign tourists want to see it the way it was designed in the late 1880s. They don't want any contemporary crown to it.
And it's well designed enough to welcome millions of visitors a year anyway.
Changes are occurring further in the skyline.

My piece of advice to tourists: you go up by elevators, unless you're a sport champion of the Foreign Legion that likes bad challenges or some kind of crazy Frenchman that likes to climb anything.
But you must go down by the stairway! You must do it because it's much fun. You get details of the structure and enjoy great views for longer.
