But I will never understand the need to add that spire... some buildings it suits... like Emprie State, Chrysler, Petronas and Burj Khalifa... but not this one.... would have looked better just the glass building ending in the point.
I don't know why but I think it finishes off the building perfectly not just in looks but in porportion to the rest of the building.

^ It does, and it's striking when you are walking up the Avenue.

Puts it all into the perfect context from that location! Hell, you could even say that with the buildings from the west moving east such as the NYTT, then the Conde Naste, then the BOA, with the tallest finally being the Empire State Building. I know antennas are not included in height, but still it blends in with that scheme perfectly!
I agree, the recent spire/antenna additions are returning the skyline to the way it should be...

I am pissed though that the wind turbine element was scrapped. Hopefully in the future that MAY, emphasis on "may," still be a possibility sometime in the future...

Midtown Manhattan: The world's second largest forest, after the Amazon

Now imagine those aerials with Hudson Yards and the MSG / PENN site developed.

Yeah, those photos are almost unreal. The skyscrapers and Midtown are almost too neat and orderly, not to mention massive.

Yeah, it's looking nice, but the spire needs to be included in the scheme.

Just a "what if," but I'd be honored to go about doing so; however, I'd have no idea how to go about getting online signatures or who is in charge of building operations. I would guess it would be Durst itself.

Or even Bank of America. It may officially be 1 Bryant Park, but they didn't put that Bank of America sign in big letters on the tower to go unnoticed.
