So speaking with a Geotech type person. Rodren drilling is likely in the process of coring the limestone at each caisson to determine the quality of the bedrock at each location. This will set a target invert elevation for each caisson's. By doing this process it expected that they will save time when they actually go install them.

Normally when you drill caissons you need to go down the hole (either via camera or person) to determine the quality of the bedrock and assess seepage into the hole. If you do not have a really good idea on where you need to stop, every time the drill pulls material out of the hole you need to inspect it.

This was apparently one of the reasons why the foundation at the CMHR took longer than expected.

In general down hole inspections are a thing of the past with the advent of go pro type cameras (hi-def & waterproof) and increased safety regulations.

Running out of land????? You must think we are an island or something. Winnipeg will never run out of land. Don't worry urban sprawl will keep going well past 2023. You will see st vital right up to the flood way. Sage creek will be at Fun Mountian. Bridge Water will be surrounding a wonderful man made Mountian. The list goes on and on. The ONLY place that's getting land locked is Transcona as it is up to the flood way now.

Well within City of Winnipeg boundaries, most of the land within the Perimeter is spoken for. There is the large swath south of the Perimeter in St. Vital and the large area of south Charleswood. All the other parcels are slated for residential within the next approx. 10 years.

Of course there's tonnes of land available, but not within the Cities control. And yes, Dreamscape will take over Sage Creek.

Now all we need is for the province to step up and expand the airport and upgrade the roads and voilà! Dreamscape becomes a done deal

I'm sure WAA will happily commit to buildings terminal 2, 3 and 4 to accommodate the massive influx of humanity to Dreamscape... we will then have the only airport in the world where the airport improvement fee exceeds the cost of your actual plane ticket

Nah all we do is lobby air canada to make winnipeg their national hub to bring in roughly 30 million passengers per year. Then all the other airlines will fly here also. Then maybe our population will increase enough to warrant the construction of a nice underground heated subway so we don't freeze our balls off waiting for the bus in winter. It's the perfect master plan

I'm wondering how much foundation work was getting done there today? I had to work on Sunday and the bottom of the pit that was not covered in crushed limestone was covered in standing water. its probably turned all the clay underneath into sticky gumbo.

That's not a live photo. It says updated every 20 minutes but that's not correct. It can go many hours between updates. As I'm writing this the time stamp on the photo that's currently up is 6:31pm 04/17/2016

No clue. I was in the TNSE office on Friday, and wow they have a nice view of the site! Didn't have my phone to snap a couple quick photos. Might have to sneak in there once in a while just to get a photo haha.
