Thanks, I'd forgotten about that. I think it was a decorative pond rather than a swimming pool, but I could be wrong.

I posted the following as part of a reply to a post by Noircitydame. NCD posted a 1950 advert for Citizens Bank (sadly now missing due to the Photobucket debacle) which contained thumbnail pictures of their branches.

but there's no definite match.

Comparing the 1921 Baist map with the views at Historic Aerials, I think that 514 N Westlake Avenue now lies roughly under the middle of the freeway.

Today's Julius Shulman subject is from two years before yesterday's Vitaminerals building. It's "Job 42: Sidney Eisenshtat, Capitol Brush Co., 1947". I've just picked a selection of the 20 images in the set.



This is just inside the entrance.



Through the opening, a selection of their products.



This office, complete with floral curtains, looks quite basic.

I'll finish with this view of the warehouse.

The Hotel Ramona was on the SW corner of 3rd and Spring, so I think this photo looks north on Spring from about 4th.

PhotoBucket made a decision to effectively eliminate all the limited free accounts. In the process they managed to say its all the customers fault because we're being scofflaws and bad people.

If you want to keep your so-called free account with any linking, you have to pay PB $400 per year or get lost.
