Thanks for the update, although some pictures did not post properly!

Snapshot updates Stage 2 Ottawa.

Carling Station on the Trillium Line. Tracks have been removed. They are getting ready to widen the left (east) side of the trench to extend the platform from 40 meters to 80 meters in order to accommodate the new Stadler FLIRTS and doubled Alstom LINTS.

https://otrain.railfans.ca/snapshot-...tember-14-2020

Future New Orchard Station on the Confederation Line, a new station in the historic Transitway service gap between Dominion and Lincoln Fields (about 3 km). A shallow cut-and-cover tunnel will be built under the Byron Linear Park (former Streetcar route), with two open trench stations (the other being Sherbourne Station).

Look at all the density passed by when the Transitway was built in the 80s.

Gladstone Station on the Trillium Line. They've widened the trench to accommodate this new infill station. Significant TOD is planned within 500 meters, including hundreds of affordable housing units.

Future Nepean Sportsplex Station Ottawa, part of the planned extension from Algonquin College to Barrhaven. This station will also serve the automated vehicle testing track and film studio set to open next year.

Future Knoxdale Station of the same planned extension:

Rebuilt VIA/Woodroffe/O-Train (bus Transitway today) intersection. Currently all at grade. This was the site of the deadly double decker OC Transpo bus/VIA rail train accident in September 2013.

Just copying this over.... This is in regards to the expo line extension into Surrey up to 166th avenue. It will all be elevated and over ground. This is listed as phase 1 since the next phase would take this extension to Langley.

Surviving stone wall from an old streetcar loop at McEwan Park, Ottawa. It will no doubt have to be taken down to build the new O-Train tunnel.

There are some similar relics of old bridges along the Yonge Line were it is now covered, but used to be trenched:

That's great that the City of Toronto buried a good portion of the original trenched Yonge Line.

We have some significant trenched sections in central neighbourhoods such as the Scott Street (3 kilometers, 3 stations, part of the 80s Transitway along a former surface freight line), the future Sherbourne and New Orchard stations (open trench stations along a cut-and-cover tunnel) and Lincoln Fields (major transfer point). Hoping we'll be able to bury some as well one day.

Contraction at Montreal Road station, the next station after Blair set to open in 2024. They have to shift the highway to make room for the station in the median. New highway bridges should open by November.

Contraction of the flyover/interchange past Lincoln Fields. This is where the Confederation Line will split between the Algonquin and Moodie branches.

Future Algonquin station, currently (and for the last 30+ years) Baseline Transitway station. The station will be underground. The rouged-in tunnel that's been waiting in the wings for around 10 years can be seen in the first image.

Alright we’re ready to joke about Montreal Station/Station Montréal.

The Trillium Line is high floor, but the Confederation Line (renderings posted above) is all low-floor. The platforms seem high because the rails sit on the ground as opposed to inset as you would see along Ion or the Valley Line. This results in a platform height of roughly 2.5-3 feet as opposed to maybe 1.5-2 feet on other low-floor systems.

I'm not sure the reason why they west with this approach, but it might have something to do with the semi-automated nature of the line and speed. It gives the line a slightly more "metro" feel than the typical low-floor system (until you get in the train and see the narrow isles).

Montreal Road in Ottawa is better associated with the Vanier area, a little over a kilometer from the ByWard Market across the Rideau River. The station is at the other end of the road, 7.5 kilometers away, just before crossing the urban area into the Greenbelt, where the street becomes S-Joseph.

When the City requested feedback on names, I proposed we change it for that reason, hoping to call it Beacon Hill (for the area it serves), Green's Creek (a natural feature in the nearby Greenbelt) or Canotek (the adjacent business park).

And yes, considering the geographical relationship between the two cities and the fact that this station is near the exit towards Montreal, the City, there are many reasons why I don't like the current name.
