Aside from the penthouses, the prices seem pretty in line with other new builds in similar areas recently. And this building is gorgeous, well built. Plus all utilities are included. I'd imaging they're going after 35–55 professors and professionals... I think they're going to have to allow dogs if they want to fill those.

I love beton brut and I would happily live in an apartment with beton brut walls, but cinder blocks are just not the same... they somehow evoke jail cells. If I had a suite in that building I'd be covering up the cinder blocks in a hurry... or am I getting it wrong and that is in fact the intent of the developer, that residents will put up whatever kind of interiors they want?
I love the juxtapositon of styles in this buiding. The free reign this developer had with some of his ideas is great.. I'd love to get in there with my camera for some shots. Would make for some pretty editorial stuff!
^ Everything about the place is nice except the bare cinder block walls, they just feel kind of cheap and warehouse-like, which is odd for a building that is otherwise built to such a high standard.
I honestly feel like solid steel would have been better lol. Way less institutional. Also, with the constant break-ins at the Element condos from the back lane, as sad as it is, I’m surprised they put glass in the back doors.

At least it boosts the street scene and gives a welcoming vibe
I'm no engineer but, don't you need a lintel over an opening when masonry is used? Honest question.

There probably steel and concrete fill inside the blocks. The blocks overtop create a pyramid type structural load, bypassing the opening. From what I can remember of my structural engineering classes a decade ago. Could be totally wrong though haha
