next to Swiss Chalet I believe. Not far past Smythe on the north side of the street.

It will be interesting to see what's planned for the site. Would it be demolished at this time if there weren't something in the works? It was vacant for a long time with nothing happening.

Yeah, its been sitting vacant for at least a couple years, so assume something must be happening, but guess its possible the building wasnt ideal in its current state so maybe was demolished to make the property more attractive for development. It is in a relatively prime area.

Yes it's a good location. Close to the highway if you're heading out of town, and Prospect/Bishop/Smythe are right there. Hopefully we'll see something happening there in the spring. With vacancy rates so low, could we see something residential?

The property hasn't sold recently so it may just be to make it more appealing. I don't think it's a great fit for something residential – the lot is relatively small as the parking behind the building is part of the Swiss Chalet property.

Yes I see that. I was looking at the wrong property. This is a pretty narrow lot. Not sure residential would be a good fit.

A source of mine that works for the company says that King Construction got the building contract for whatever is going to be built on this lot.

Would they have any idea what's being built? Or when it's going to start?

Lot clearing was completed yesterday on the vacant land on the corner of St Marys and 2NC. They spent the past week cleaning up the debris that they left from this past fall. No idea what is going on. Sign still up says for sale so likely just making it more presentable for a prospective buyer.

A new shop has opened up at the Two Nations one stop. I noticed an open sign but didn’t catch the name or what it is.

Two items of note that will be going before PAC next month:

- rezone a portion of 184 Greenwood Drive from future development to MR-2
- rezone 76-110 Forest Hill Road from MR-2 to MR-4 to permit a 32 unit apartment building. This would be a consolidation of three lots that are directly adjacent to the proposed micro unit development.

Uh-oh. I can see the Waterloo Row crowd staring to sharpen their pitchforks and grabbing the megaphones. A 32-unit apartment building in their historic, upscale neighborhood?!

Yeah, I had the same first take on the post; the Waterloo Row folk will be up at arms again.

That said, looking on Google, currently those 3 lots have 3 smallish houses there, and the fact that it has a "Forest Hill Road" address instead of Waterloo Row might hide the impact a bit.

32 units feels like it will probably be a 4-story building as well; 8 units per floor, maybe similar to the buildings closer to Waterloo Row. (Around 19 Forest Hill Road)

This project will probably get approved with minimal fuss in the end.

So these are the lots that the micro units will be built on?

OK Thanks. Do you know why they're consolidating these lots? Are they looking at a phase two maybe?
