Been waiting a long time for these owls. Looks like I'll be heading over there tomorrow.

Per the Proper's website, this is set to open 1 week from now (Dec. 16).

I noticed that the 12/16 opening announcement pops up when navigating to the reservations tool. But the hotel is not taking reservations until the middle of January which was recently changed from early January.

Also, I can't find any info about the condo move ins. Their social media has been inactive for a long time. They must have sold out relatively quickly.

Anyone know what material those owls are made out of? It kind of looks like the same material used to make pottery, namely clay. Maybe one of you downtowners can tap on it and touch it next time you're in the area. My inquisitive mind needs to know. Also, if they made miniatures of these, I would buy a few. These are the sort of things we need much more of downtown. Even the Rhino turds add to the experience of Austin.

They're made of Corian and heck looks like they made the CAD models freely available so someone could "easily" 3d print a model.

Had to look that up, same material used in kitchen and bathroom counter tops. Should be durable. Bottom line, it looks good. Thanks for the info. Cool video also. I dub thee our unofficial researcher.

Went to the first-floor bar last night. Very nice. The interior of the ground floor is very well done. A great addition to the Austin scene.

Is this one finished yet? I'm assuming it would be if the bar was open. No barricades I take it?

Yes! I work here and we're open! 2 of our 4 outlets are now open. The Peacock is upscale Mediterranean food & bar and Goldie's is our intimate sunken bar (currently only open to hotel guests and residents). Still to come are Mockingbird Cafe (coffee, pastries, grab and go rotisserie-type lunch) and finally will be La Piscina, which is our 5th floor restaurant adjacent to the pool offering coastal Mexican cuisine.

Come check it out! There truly isn't another hotel like this in Austin! Kelly Wearstler Interior have done an outstanding job.

I was going to mark it complete in January when they started taking reservations, but it sounds like they had a soft opening already.

That's awesome! Congrats! My friend and I checked it out yesterday. SO beautiful. Truly nothing else like it in town. Makes the saint cecilia look like a dump.
