That first one reminds me of a stretched out Inland Steel Building, but really only in that shot.

Even though this tower is only in the 600s, when the skyline is viewed from the Planetarium/Aquarium, it easily looks 800+ and is a great addition to the city! Love the green

Location, Location, Location. Imagine if it was built in the central Loop. Nobody would ever see it. 181 West Madison comes to mind when thinking of buildings that have little impact despite being impressively tall with a striking design.

Yep! 181 West Madison is one of my favorites to stand underneath. It's verticality and mass make it so imposing when in the close quarter confines of other buildings.

The biggest disappearing act of any large building in Chicago is Chase Tower which is all but invisible unless you are standing right next to it or like in Itasca. You can see a bit of it from certain angles in Grant Park, but for an 850' tall block long building it's damn near invisible.

As someone who spends about half his time on the South side, and I commute back and forth between the Loop and downtown I've got to disagree. It's a massive and unmistakable building when viewed from the south. Very pretty at night too with the crown lit up

there is something about this building. It seems to be reaching & stretching towards the sky and I absolutely love it

^ I agree.

My only qualm is I hope they either glaze the exposed concrete on the penthouse or carry the silver metal panels up and onto that area. It would create a very cool flying buttress appearance. (<-- Redundant, I know)

I'm pretty sure that the renderings show the metal panel extending across the exposed concrete surfaces.

Also, I just noticed in the photo looking up from the base that the fins on the tower's podium step in slightly transitioning from the first several floors to the winter garden space. That's a very subtle and clever nod to the way the piers on the main tower step back at mid-height.

The panels on the west side are already close to complete. You can see them if you drive east on Congress. Anyone have a photo of this? I think it looks really good.

Definitely what I'm seeing as well
