i never considered chrysler to be ESB's little brother, that's why i said the setai fits the description. the chrysler building is an unique and beautiful skyscraper on its own.

Lest we forget that this building is ass-ugly and Chrysler is a masterpiece. The two should never be used in any synonymous manner in the same paragraph let alone the same sentence.

This is like a grey concrete washboard version of Water Tower Place in Chicago. Ok as a background building, but really unattractive in its own right.

Simple, solid majesty is what New York is all about. Or at least what it should be all about, notwithstanding today's emphasis on glass-box ephemera. This is definitely a deeply felt homage to the city, far worthier than a lot of much taller buildings.

Commercial skyscrapers being the biggest towers in the city, now and back in it's earlier days of skyscraper construction, it's logical that the new, "glass-box" towers now seem to dominate the skyline. However, it is nice that towers such as these can and will still get built. A new "classic" on Fifth.
