Buffalo, New York - Medical Campus Area

The Buffalo-Niagara Medical Campus area is about 1 mile north of downtown, on the East Side of Main Street adjacent to the Fruit Belt neighborhood to the East, and the Allentown neighborhood to the West. The campus has been expanding with the recent addition of the University at Buffalo Medical School, the new Children's Hospital, a new Kaleida Medical Center, along with other hospitals, research facilities, medical device manufacturers, and health care providers. The previously sleepy and sometimes dangerous area of the past has been transformed in recent years, with more changes on the way.

Looking to the Southwest from the City Honors High School campus:

The neighborhood dates back to the mid 1800s, and includes old and new homes and structures.

Ulrich's Tavern is the oldest continuing operating tavern in the city, open since 1868.

The former Phoenix Brewery, built in 1888, was recently converted to residential.

This looks like some intriguing modern medical architecture in a cluster of it! Thank you for the tour.
