This is a very rough one I did back in 2017:

I think Tribune is too short, and the 400 LSD towers aren't this tall anymore.

rgarri has done this in his Chicago model. Skip to 1:13 of his video on 400 LSD for a view close to this vantage point.

The first photo is the one everyone is going to try to capture from now until the tower’s end.

Standing under a Studio Gang tower always provides a treat. They clearly think about the up close impression.

This turned out even nicer than I expected from the renderings.

I wonder how feasible it would be to hang some sort of porous but reflective blue scrim covering the blow-through. I don't think I can really like this building in its current state of completion.

I know I'm beating a mummified horse but that singular mechanical vent patch on the east facade bugs me so much. It's like look at all the other major towers in the skyline - none of them have a mistake like that.

Otherwise it's nice, I don't even really mind the vents on the south facade because they look somewhat intentional.

^Agreed. There is also one on the west side. How does something like that happen?

I would suspect it happens because Lowenberg didn't want to spend the money or the square footage necessary in the mechanical risers to have direct exhaust from the kitchens.

So, when a buyer of a multi-million dollar unit says they want direct exhaust, they get it.

Biggest disappointment in a supertall in a while. Those mechanical floors or just awful and ruin the whole tower.

A good article. Most concrete balcony slab construction I have seen certainly does not have any thermal break. So much emphasis on thermal breaking the window system and selecting double and triple Low E glazing and the concrete is the biggest thermal bridge of them all. Should follow the UK market way with prefabricated steel balconies that do have thermal break separation from the structure.

There are a ton of window wall buildings with balconies in cold-weather markets like Toronto, and I've never heard of this (maybe I'm not reading the right news). Maybe they know to put those thermal layers in the slabs to prevent the heat loss. Fascinating stuff!
