Between Saskatoon and Regina yeah, but I think some of the other smaller towns in the province have some older stuff.

I just decided to do a quick google search and came up with this:

Quote:
RESTORING SASKATCHEWAN'S OLDEST BUILDING
Centenary Funding will help restore Holy Trinity Anglican Church at Stanley Mission.

"This church was constructed between 1854 and 1860 and is the oldest building left standing in Saskatchewan," Environment and Resource Management Minister Buckley Belanger said. "We are pleased that through this restoration, we can ensure this historic legacy will be around for all of us to enjoy for many years."

Restoration work will include installing two new aluminum crosses, repairing and painting the exterior woodwork, applying preservative to wood shingles, repairing or replacing stairs from dock to church entrance and repairing door latches.

Holy Trinity Anglican Church currently provides religious services to the Anglican congregation at Stanley Mission. It has also been designated a Provincial Heritage Property and a National Historic Site.

The money for these projects comes from the province's four-year, $120 million Centenary Fund. Total cost of this project, which is expected to be completed by the spring of 2001, is $80,000.

This funding supplements current provincial parks infrastructure spending of $2.5 million per year. The Centenary Fund was developed so important capital projects can be completed as Saskatchewan approaches its centennial in 2005.

And found a picture:

Not a bad looking building really. And yes, it's not Regina, but still very interesting to see how Regina's oldest standing building compares to Saskatchewan's. The RCMP Chapel looks like a slightly less grand version of this one. Same basic design concept, just smaller.

That's a pretty neat church! I wonder how often people canoed to church?

Does anyone have any/get ahold of any photos of old apartments in Regina? There are some beauties. The Madrid Apts. on College and Broad, The Frontenac behind the Balfour, Bartleman on 14th or the Mayfair on 14th. Those are some of my favs but can't seem to find photos or information anywhere.

I've been wrong before, but for three frames in the title sequence of the Big Bang Theory television show, there is a picture of what I'm sure to be the first Leader building, circa before 1900.

That is just absolutely weird that you saw that. I had to look at it on youtube. I still can't see it and I know it's there.

I, much like the creator of the web page Devon linked, I went through the opening sequence frame by frame, seeing what I could recognise. To correct my first posting, the Leader Building only appears in two frames. I was very much WTFZOMGLOLOLLERSKATES when I saw that, but I had a difficult time finding a decent picture on-line to compare it with. I know I've seen this picture in books about Regina, but I have yet to find a definitive answer as to when this picture was taken. I disagree with the Liberal Book of Lies as multiple pages within give the picture different dates.

The Odeon Roxy actually burned down in the fall of 1977 due to a careless cleaning crew. The last movie to be shown there was "Heroes" starring Henry Winkler and Sally Field.

The Coronet Cinemas were originally a 3 screen theatre that was built in 1978 to replace the Odeon Roxy. In 1989, they expanded to 6 screens.

That was important to me as a young drunk learning to party on the streets of suburban Regina.

I also remember several old breweries in Regina that I do not think exist anymore. Molson on Dewdney east was probably the last to go. There was a Labatt's a little further northeast of there somewhere, that I think the employees bought out when it closed. I think it became Great West brewery or something? There was also a Carling O'Keefe that made Calgary and Pilsner on North Albert (there was also a big bakery near there - McGavin's?). I think there was also one on South Railway (Sakatchewan Drive) just west of Albert. I might be getting confused with the Co-op Dairy at that location, though.
The Labatt's brewery was in Saskatoon. Carlings was where the Carling Mall is now, and across the street was where McGavins bakery was located, now a Timmy's.

I believe there was some sort of brewery east of broad street, along north railway street just east of what used to be a beaver lumber? I remember this because I could really smell the yeast or something as I was next door at the westfair foods cash n carry with my dad.
