It's because ToA is father back than the Marriott from that angle lol. The farther back things go from your vantage point, the smaller they get. Look at other skyline shots and you'll see that the spires are really much shorter

I hope you've got some pictures of the Weston u/c. That's something I've always wanted to see

Absolutely not, it is right next to the GH and it is much taller. The TOA is not that far from either, I feel it is close enough to compare. You can barley see the top of the spires unless it is night so if you look at night from any angle any distance the MRC is taller.

You can also see the Lord and Taylor that opened with Rivercenter. That lasted about a year before it was turned in to a Foley's. Of course now it's a Macy's. Rivercenter was quite the upscale mall when it first opened. It had a banana republic, that Lord & Taylor.

This was taken by elmariachi. I got it from his Flickr page, and he hasn't posted it on here yet, so I had to because it's just too awesome not to have on here.

I believe I do. As I recall, it was an earlier shot, when Weston was up to around 10-12 floors.

I'll also post some scans I have from an old San Antonio guide, from the mid-80s. I found an old shot of the office/hotel complex at I-10 and Wurzbach, with what is now the Omni Hotel. There's also a rendering for a much taller office building (at least 30 stories) at the back of the complex.

I think the 1982 phone book had a nice shot of downtown SA on the cover.

Take a look at the facade detail going up on the GH. I'm still trying to figure out if a large screen is going to be put there, at least that's what it looks like in renderings of the building. Looks good

Actually the Vidorra is just about to start on its sixteenth floor when I last saw it yesterday. Just keeping it updated.

yeah, you're correct. for being 16 stories, it sure is kinda short in person. well, that could be because it's across from the marriott and grand hyatt. but still.

The grounds around the Alamo are really a great vantage point because you can see the "Big 6" all from different spots. I didn't realize this (or remember) until I saw a pic, but you can see the tops of the Weston and BOAP from the garden area behind the Alamo.
