Hunser, as you are a math expert, can you devise an equation for the probability of a supertall rising in Manhattan on a neighborhood basis given:

A) Land availability
B) Average sq ft price and the change per quarter
C) Demand when it comes to all different types of office and residential
D) What tower height would be needed to make a long term profit necessary
E) Supertall probability per block in Midtown (essentially like a zillow map of property values, only with the chance of a tall tower rising).

I'd be cool to see some math involved to figure out which neighborhoods have the highest % of one rising. Its probable that as land becomes ever more scarce, parcel prices increase, that "X" amount of floors and heights will be need to recuperate costs and make it profitable in the future.

I guess this is an unofficial PhD thesis I am asking of you. I don't even know it its possible, but its an idea. Good exercise using differential equations one could say.

Sounds very intriguing, as soon as I'm done with my exam in 3 weeks (studying manifolds, Hausdorff measures/dimensions, convolutions, integral theorems, functional spaces etc.) I'll get back to you. After all, that's what summers are for, right?

And a great nighttime rendering of Steinway:

I wish WTC2 would of been like of Ping An Center. Next to Steinway, a favorite of mine.

From the CTBUH. Published the 10th of June.

On the design, something like this would do wonders for the downtown skyline. It has that gotham design and would look perfect in terms of aesthetics. O well, one day.

Yes, Ping An and GCTF are epic and would fit NYC perfectly, especially Ping An. A Chrysler-style building topping out at 2,000 feet in Downtown would do wonders for the skyline.

Hunser I'm working on a new compilation with something that SSP needs. You'll like it.

Should be finished soon, I'm just setting the foundations of it. It will be under city compilations.

I'm anxious to see it.

Another 3 supertalls (all currently in prep) should join the U/C club this year:

- 125 Greenwich, ~1,150ft / 351m
- The Girasole, 1,034ft / 315m
- 1 Manhattan West, 995ft / 303m

It's very likely that by the end of the year NYC will have 9 supertalls U/C and 7 completed, totaling 16.

2017 looks like a tough one to beat in terms of the sheer number of (currently known) supertalls in construction, while also leaving out total unknowns (like towers lacking a completion date, current site activity and/or financing) such as 15 Penn, 42 Trinity, that Brooklyn supertall and 1710 Broadway which still have a good chance of starting before December 31st, 2021.

123 W 57th's construction start year can be reasonably guessed based on how the Nordstrom tower started construction before One57 was fully wrapped up. It might happen sooner if NIMBYs manage to do something that would pressure Barnett to expedite construction, like one those proposed moratoriums on buildings taller than 600 feet actually coming into force (which does seem thankfully unlikely however).

It's amazing ... after studying the whole day, there's already so much happening in New York. This city is on fire!

- 145 East 60th St: potential supertall @UES. http://therealdeal.com/blog/2015/06/...north-of-300m/

- 111 Murray: site is online: http://111murray.com/

- Macy's Redevelopment, Brooklyn: potential 900 footer: http://www.yimbynews.com/2015/06/vis...ael-leyva.html

I cant even keep up with all the supertalls and highrises going up in NYC right now, probably the biggest high rise boom in the entire history of the city.

Indeed. 20% increase in the cities skyscraper stock and a 10% increase in the highrise stock. In terms of units, a good 45,000 approximate multi-use units, condos, and so on per year. Its the Age of Rameses!!!

The city is number one in the world in terms of skyscraper count. On its way to becoming first in terms of supertalls once all is set and done.

I wouldn't be shocked if that is the future of 2WTC, a giant screen for FOX broadcasting. So much Murica
