Yes, I really miss La Belle Province and Lafleur's.

Plus, I really miss my favourite Chicken restaurant in the whole world, Chalet BBQ (Rue Sherbrooke Ouest at Girouard, Montreal).

Firstly, they use frozen instead of fresh potatoes, which is not good. Secondly, their restaurants seems to be ''aging'' which is not as welcoming for me.

These places are the best. Made especially good by the cheezy signage. I love it. Long live the casse-croûte!

I don't think there is any one real ideal English equivalent phrase, but, I would go with "snack bar."

Snack Bar is technically correct, but I never heard that used by an Anglo-Quebecker. Sometimes we'd joke around and say something like "Casse-Crotch".

Seriously though, I love Casse-croûtes. I always seek them out when visiting small-town Quebec.

yes for sure I know that place. Meat-beating Pete's. The five knuckle shuffle.

There also used to be a really cheezy place in nearby Dorion called "Patate Serge"
