Yes, I really miss La Belle Province and Lafleur's.

Plus, I really miss my favourite Chicken restaurant in the whole world, Chalet BBQ (Rue Sherbrooke Ouest at Girouard, Montreal).

I much prefer Fromagerie Victoria, which seems to slowly take Ashton's market in this area.

This place near Granby was heaven.

These places are the best. Made especially good by the cheezy signage. I love it. Long live the casse-croûte!

There are many good Casses-croûtes in Québec, that's for sure!

How do you say Casse-croûte in English?

I don't think there is any one real ideal English equivalent phrase, but, I would go with "snack bar."

Anglo Quebeckers always call them "Casse-croûte"

Snack Bar is technically correct, but I never heard that used by an Anglo-Quebecker. Sometimes we'd joke around and say something like "Casse-Crotch".

Seriously though, I love Casse-croûtes. I always seek them out when visiting small-town Quebec.

Politicians are also seeking them, especially during an electoral campaign

yes for sure I know that place. Meat-beating Pete's. The five knuckle shuffle.

There also used to be a really cheezy place in nearby Dorion called "Patate Serge"
