san angel is a wealthy neighborhood with diego & frida’s studio, the inn, a nice plaza and american suburban style strip shopping on altavista, among other things of course.

the museum opened in 1986 and it was renovated in 1994

busy market area - if you like flowers they say come to san angel for the feria de las flores in july, its a flower fair with a long indigenous history

Nice pics. This neighborhood is kind of like the "urban progressive" neighborhood of DF, along with Coyocan. Lots of university professors, mid-level govt. officials and the like.
My wife was born and raised in San Angel. I would call it more "upper middle class" in the Mexican context than really "wealthy"; the wealthy parts of DF tend to be on the west end of the city, while the south end tends to be more uniformly middle-upper middle class.
