If I ever ran into them on a hiking trail in BC, I would likely say "Excuse me, I appear to be lost, can you help me?" lol.

I've met the CEO of my company many times, and whenever I see him, I call him "Mr." and he says "Call me John", or in the case of the last few times "You know I've told you to call me John" lol. We are a company of 13,000 or so employees in a hundred different locations and I work a hundred miles from head office. And I'm blue collar employee grunt. So it's very cool when he comes down to our building for a meet and greet or something, and he greets me in front of my local management like we were long time fishing buddies or something.

There was an article earlier this week about the mansion the Sussexes are about to buy being on "stolen aboriginal land", like that old argument could possibly have any weight at this point to someone who has without remorse lived their entire life so far on stolen Brittonic land (and derived their wealth from it).

His family is literally the entity that stole the land to begin with.

Every single square inch of soil on Earth (except for Antarctica and some isolated islands) has been stolen from some other person or tribe at some point in human history, even between neighbouring pre-contact indigenous peoples.

People have to get over this, and move forward, productively and together in a manner that benefits all citizens, both indigenous and "settler".

Can I steal your land? I'll give you $16 a year for life!

You don't even need to pay him anything, if NB is like Quebec then you just have to manage to occupy it for 10 continuous years unopposed, and it'll be yours (IIRC you'll have to pay notary/title fees though).

When people say the monarchy is irrelevant in Canada...

I find it interesting that in 2020, the legislature in what is probably the most multicultural province in the country, that sits in what is arguably the most (or one of the most) diverse cities in the world, made a decision to make singing God Save the Queen part of its procedures.

This seems a little over the top, but Ontario was founded by monarchist refugees and has long been the most monarchist province, including in polling on the issue. Crowns and other symbols of the monarchy are more common in Ontario than other provinces.

I think PEI would have something to say about this.

I think support for the monarchy is quite high in Atlantic Canada in general. It generally scores as high as or higher than Ontario in polls, and if you factor out Acadians (10-15% of the regional population) it's clearly higher than in Doug Ford's royal domain.

I would agree. There is a reason why Royal Visits are so common on the east coast, especially PEI and NS, although it should be noted that with the Queens increasing dotage, and the lack of younger royals wanting to take on the task, these Royal Visits are becoming less and less common.........
