I will include many development sets. A database such as this will take a long time to do for all the cities (especially since I'm an NYC guy, so I'm still learning about all of these). Numerous sets, and then once the sets are done, individual posts for new projects. But... to others, feel free to add in. Will do all the cities in the first post via sets. But sometimes, individual posts for newer projects. The sets are just to consolidate many projects into one post. Like a reference, all of the sources will be available at the bottom, under "===".

What I will do with the sets:

A) After each set is finished, there will be a link to that individual post only under the 1st post (directory). This way, its easy to see many projects. All of which could be done from the first post. Hence the "encyclopedia" style of the thread. Think of it as a table of contents.

Example Link: http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/show...4&postcount=20

^^^^^

Click the link to see what I mean. This will be in the first post keeping true to a table contents.

Feel free to add a set if anybody likes (or even a post for a new project; example being urbanizers posts: includes title, rendering, short info, source, and it stays true to the format). I'll try my best to avoid duplicates like I do with the mid/low and high NYC threads.

- Chris E.

Austin | The Grove at Shoal Creek | General Development

Project: The Grove at Shoal Creek

Quote:
Developers behind proposed mixed-use community The Grove at Shoal Creek have unveiled an affordable housing component in hopes of receiving Austin City Council’s approval.

The 75-acre development will be completed by Milestone Community Builders between Shoal Creek Boulevard and Bull Creek Road on land formerly owned by the Texas Department of Transportation. Apartments, townhomes, single-family homes and accessory dwelling units have been contemplated for the project so residents can live near anticipated parkland, office space and commercial retail outlets.

Frisco has released plans for a 35 story five-star hotel tower.

Langham Hotels and Resorts started in London in 1865.

This will be the fourth U.S. location outside of Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York.

Here's my post.

Galveston | Falstaff Brewery Redevelopment

Project: Falstaff Brewery Redevelopment

Quote:
The former Falstaff brewery in Galveston has moved a step closer to redevelopment with a new owner and plans to convert the hulking industrial building and surrounding plot into a parking lot for cruise passengers and, later, condominiums and a boutique hotel.

Plans for the brewery building's renaissance could signal new life in an area of the island that was hard hit by Hurricane Ike in 2008.

A few I know of.

Mineral Wells is working on restoring the Baker Hotel, though I'm not sure how far along or feasible any of those plans are turning out to be.

Lubbock has the College Baseball Hall of Fame and Buddy Holly Hall in the works, but no highrises of any sort.

Midland has a proposed 17 floor hotel and downtown park project which looks very nice.

Amarillo is building this downtown, an Xcel Energy office.

Directory Update #2:

Added a new section to the directory (1st post):

A) Project Set links
B) For now Houston only, but will expand to other places.
C) Links provide a quick way to view many projects and info. Will become efficient ways to view projects without wondering what page its on. Once the thread gets bigger, this saves a lot of time.

Possible additions:

A) I might have a section for Maps. Essentially useful development maps that show many projects. Will make links for those in the directory. One was posted so far. I'll see if I can dig some up. Maps will be separated by city.

B) Will add more threads to the "useful threads" section. These feature sub form threads like transit or metro news.

More to come...

DALLAS | Trammel Crow Center Development | FT | FLOORS

Project: Trammell Crow Center Development

Quote:
The owners of one of downtown Dallas’ landmark skyscrapers – the Trammell Crow Center – will start construction by as soon as late this year on a major addition to the property.

JP Morgan bought the 2.7-acre parking lot at Ross and Olive Street last summer. Since then the new owners have been working on development plans for the property.

The biggest share of the proposed building will include 2,200 parking spaces, which will add to the office leasing appeal for the 30-year-old, 1.2 million square-foot Trammell Crow Center.

The current design includes more than 350 apartment units, a 200-room hotel and about 25,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space on the ground floor.

JP Morgan is also working with architects on plans for a general overhaul of the Trammell Crow Center, which is one of Dallas’ top office projects

HOUSTON | Post Office Redevelopment | FT | FLOORS

Project: Post Office Redevelopment

Quote:
Lovett Commercial has closed on the 16-acre U.S. Post Office site in downtown.

The Houston-based developer, which builds neighborhood shopping centers and urban redevelopment, did not elaborate on plans in a statement announcing the purchase. Previously, Lovett said it expects “to attract multiple uses such as retail, creative office, residential and/or a boutique hotel. Tenants that we have visited with are extremely excited about the project, its location and the possibilities.”
Quote:
"It's extremely rare to find a downtown site with direct, easy access to Interstate 10, Interstate 45 and numerous adjacent neighborhoods in Houston,” Burdette Huffman, vice president for Lovett Commercial, said in a statement. “Our goal is to create a very special mixed-use development that leverages the Bayou, the theater district and the significant scale of the property."

I don't post this list I keep on SSP too much, but for what it's worth:

Here's Rev. 12 of my 2015 list of the Tallest Austin Projects that are at least 10-stories and/or 100'. There are 58 high rise projects on this list, and one of them - #53 - is envisioned as six towers. The projects that don't have publicly released height information are at the bottom of the list. As usual, the highlighted projects are either U/C or underway with site prep and are financed. The projects with a strike through were completed in 2015.

AUSTIN | Austin Convention Center Expansion & Hotel | FEET | FLOORS

Project: Austin Convention Center Expansion & Hotel

Quote:
A proposal to expand the existing Austin Convention Center westward could help provide enough extra meeting space for larger conventions, said Mark Tester, director of the city’s Convention Center Department.

Gensler ultimately proposed expanding Austin Convention Center to the west, adding 200,000 square feet of exhibit space, 65,000 square feet of meeting space and a 56,700-square-foot ballroom as well as additional underground parking and loading dock space.

The city proposal also calls for a 3-acre “urban park” atop the expanded convention center, Tester said.
